Just wanted to give you thanks for rekindling my interest in Santana's 4th record, Caravanserai.  A couple of years back you posted a glowing rave about it, and I put it back in the rotation.   I'm spinning it this morning, as I open shop to another morning where it feels like a neutron bomb has been dropped in my neighborhood.  The start of the album with the sounds of crickets chirping was pretty apropos.  Then the sounds of cosmic jamming leads you out of the wilderness.

Prost!

Whoa - I just finished playing it!

Right on, Surf.

It must be working.  We didn't do bupkiss for sales until it was after 3 and half the day was gone yesterday.  Just rang up three different good sales, and the day is off to a great start!

Nice Dave do you sell things by mail

We don't Bucky.  I've resisted the online sales option.  This event has me seriously reconsidering it.

Hell yeah. I count this title as perhaps Santana's best record, and I would include the fantastic Luis Gasca album For Those Who Chant among that category, too. My copy was not clean enough to appreciate, I got rid of it, awaiting the unverse to send me another copy.
I think Santana's bands from ~'69-~'73 would be the only real contenders among the rock crowd to challenge the Dead for chops, pound for pound, in that era. Obviously there were many, many jazz groups going that could reach the same stratospheric levels, but I think among 'mainstream' rock units, very few could achieve that fiery group-mind.

Sorry to hear the shop is getting hit by this fear and nonsense, but glad the Caravanaseria maybe shone in a little prosperity.

Cheers!

Thanks for the positive thoughts.  We ended up with our best Tuesday of the year, and best day in the last couple of weeks since the pandemic fear began to set in.

Today, our Governor will announce a ban on gatherings of 250 people or more in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties.  This will shutter the Neptune Theatre above my store, and all of the large music and sports venues here.  I have many friends who will now be out of work.  We need to keep these folks in our thoughts, and extend a helping hand where we can.

Stay healthy, and keep positive my friends.  We will survive.

Thought this was going to be a call out thread.

I was unfamiliar with the album til opening the thread earlier today- I really enjoyed that.  Thank you.

Cool thread.

I picked this up about two week ago:

Big Chicano Rock sound with lots of horns and percussion.

Malo has Carlos's brother Guillermo "Jorge" Santana on guitar

Santana's version of Jobim's Stone Flower on Caravanserai is truly sublime.

I just want to apologize,  formally,  to you for upsetting you in the past with my 'trash' threads.  I truly believed I was helping by collecting what I discerned to be the best versions of what is available publicly on archive for the show/tour I might be working on. I'm also searching the internet/you tube and attaching those,  when available,  to the show im working on. I've even collected the Jerry Band videos,  put them in order by date and added that stuff. Sure it's all 'out there'and anyone could search it out and take the time. No one is putting it all together, the archive and you tube stuff...so that us what im doing. My phone doesn't post pictures but otherwise id be posting photos of the various venues and pics of the band...adding those as well. I hope anyone would feel free to add anything including pictures to the threads.

Finally,  i'd like to point out that i'm not in some competition with you and I certainly hope you don't feel threatened by any thread I might start,  or bump. I happen to find your many posts in the monthly 'listening thread' to be quite informative and very interesting.

Take care, Greg

Oh my.
