Help on the Way

Has Hunter ever expanded on the meaning of the song's lyrics?

Paradise waits
On the crest of a wave
Her angels in flame
She has no pain
Like a child, she is pure
She is not to blame

Poised for flight
Wings spread bright
Spring from night
Into the sun
Don't stop to run
She can fly like a lie
She cannot be outdone

Tell me the cost
I can pay
Let me go
Tell me love is not lost
Sell everything
Without love, day to day,
Insanity is king

I will pay
Day by day
Anyway
Lock, bolt and key
Crippled but free
I was blind
All the time
I was learning to see

Hunter's original manuscript

I believe it was originally a collection of short stanzas having not much to do with one another. Garcia saw them in Hunter's notebook and said "Hey, put these together and you got a song", or something like that.

Never saw that before^...

Blackmailers blues? Slip knot jig???

Verrrrry ineresting.....hmmm.......

Nope, still no fckn idea what he s talking about....;)

Hunter rarely expands on the meaning of any of his lyrics, preferring to let the listener do it themselves.

"Beautiful Lie"

Nice

The answers are all right there in the words...

I think that was Crazy Fingers

Fingers it is. Sorry.

Those two occupy adjacent spaces in my head.
