It was a nice show. Super mellow Texan crowd. Actually, Easter Sunday might have diminished his crowd size. But I loved the elbow room. The stage was out back in a beach like setting. In actuality, it was right up against a ramp to I-10. The crunchy dive vibe was appreciated.
He plays a lot with a looping station. At times it was like he had a full band. He also explained a lot of what he was doing. He definitely wanted everyone to know that nothing was prerecorded and all tracks were created on the spot. Sometimes his guitar played like a piano other times like a sitar.
I was just happy to have found a venue with music I like and was able to suggest a location for me and my wife to meet up with her best friend from college. It doesn’t get much better in my book. Super affordable too. Music isn’t supposed to break the bank.
John was fun to talk with after the show. Super nice guy with a few tales from the road...
Houston,...don’t tell me this town ain’t got no heart!
