Looking that way for sure. Know a lot of folks who nearly lost their shirts last harvest and got out of the business completely. There are still just tubs of flower sitting around untrimmed because the market was just so over saturated. Only way for the small guys to survive is shipping back east and that's not everyone's cup of tea.
Folks still grow for their own enjoyment and we had a nice little modest harvest.

not so fast... have heard some NorCal growers who operate in the black market -- that is, without any intention of securing permits and "going legal" -- state that within a couple years there will be an increasing amount of guerilla growing out in the hills... well-disguised small patches or individual plants, a throwback to the '80s and '90s
we shall see...

>>>>this might be the last
>>>>this might be the last year can make decent money trimming flower,
That was probably last year. I have friends that used to go down to "trim camp" in Southern Oregon every fall, but the farms closed after the end of last season after failing to turn a profit. This year it wasn't happening;
"One time, at trim camp . . ."
$100 pounds. Can't really pay trimmers at that rate.
Yes, there will be folks growing moonshine weed up in the hills without a permit and there will always be special counisour limited batch buds, but the industry has changed for good.

I was mining last October, there were trimigrants camping all over parts of our claims, all looking for work near Williams to no avail (Southern Oregon)
This year I was still making over $100 +, along with over an oz of smalls, per day (and kief), but that was in the Portland region

Always seems more
Always seems more romanticized, but gotta luv every life experience you get along the way! I'm a "pocket hunter", which is a very unique and specialized form of mining. This was the best one i've been a part of so far. Southern Oregon is well known for them, small rich gold deposits on the surface, usually mined in a week or 3. Largest recent one was 140 pounds, historic was the Gold Hill pocket of around 35,000 ounces. I just love the specimens that come with them!

If you are not getting enough
If you are not getting enough per pound to even trim your weed or can't move it within 6 months of harvest, then you grow shitty weed, no ifs ands or buts. Prices are way low right now, but if you grow weed that is actually good and put effort into branding, you will be fine.
There will never be guerilla growing again.the black market currently thrives on, and will continue to thrive on, diverted product from the legal market. Almost everyone in this business was a criminal just 2 years ago, now we are expected to just 100% fall in line with big government after a lifetime skirting those lines? Fuck no. Almost every single person I know in the legal market still ships packs and sells black market. All the biggest cali brands can be bought all over the country, and the world. It's who we are.

nancy - if you are making
nancy - if you are making edibles, try working with distillate. its an extract that has been fractionally distilled and is generally above 90% THC and already fully decarbed. just mix into warm oil or butter, and bam, you are ready to bake - plus there is no additional flavor from the cannabis whatsoever.
for strongly flavored, simple items like brownies, a bit of weed taste is no big deal, but the flavorless quality of distillate works really well with more delicate flavors like a rice crispy treat, and opens the door to more serious baking with a wider range of more delicate flavors. distillate also generally wont effect the chemistry as much as tons of green weed butter, so you can do more complex recipes like french pastries.
it tends to be a bit expensive in the shops, but these days most growers have some made from their crop or can point you in the right direction to some more reasonably priced material. grey/black market prices for cooking grade distillate should be less per mg of THC than mid grade flower, but a bit more expensive per mg of thc than average quality trim.
