Happy Saturday Morning / Vegan Thanksgiving

Forums:

Kind greetings to everyone today, even trolls ! Does anyone have any exciting plans today or projects going on.?

Beautiful day here today, slightly overcast expected to reach highs of 50.

Last year i made vegan mashed potatoes which is easy, this year i'm trying gravy also. Does anyone have a good easy vegan gravy recipe?

Can always make a simple vegetable stock and add flour, cook down a bit.

That's sort of the basis of how I make vegan gravy.  However, you have to make sure you mix the flour with oil before adding the water or stock.

I usually mix about a quarter cup of flour with a couple of diced vegetable bullion cubes and then drizzle it with oil and heat it in pan until its a paste.   I then slowly add water and stir it up on medium heat until it thickens into a gravy.  I then add diced mushrooms and jalapenos, onions, herbs, and garlic and continue to let it simmer while stirring occasionally.  After a little bit - you have spicy vegan mushroom gravy.    You can skip the jalapenos, but I like chiles in pretty much everything.

We will have a diverse crowd this year with a mix of omnivores, vegans, and gluten free folks.  I am charge of the vegan stuff.

Chop and roast the veggies to dark brown in the oven before making stock.

Hey all, Cutting and splitting some locust and oak is on the list today.

Here's a recipe my wife has used for over 25 years and we think it's pretty damn good.

Watching Yale v Harvard. Watching golf as well.

I made a vegetarian shepherds pie tonight. It’s good, but would be better with meat.

My vegetarian daughter, home from college, was very happy.

Now that is how you prepare a Tofurkey!

Got mine today but had to go to a few places because they were selling out.

You can also use cabbage for your fo-turkey...   stuff that!
