Actually, the WOS debuted on February 9, 1973 in a rudimentary form at Stanford University's Maples Pavilion. As an aside, every tweeter blew in the GD's first number.

I made it to that show ---advertised by Bill Graham as "The Sound Test".
Pretty cool show- a lot of folks I knew were there that night- and some got way too stoned, or so I heard.
I also attended Maples the year before . Great show also but we were stuck on the side upstairs because all the Stanford kids got in first. pus pus pus.

No whoops- at Maples a lot
No whoops- at Maples a lot of the equipment and speakers and all that rot that was used in the WOS were part of a new 1973 PA but it wasn't the actual early WOS.
The WOS was pretty much a whole new animal. No one I remember called it the Wall of Sound back then (74) but I may have missed something along the way.
