Han Solo Movie

Forums:

Saw it last night with zero expectations going in.  It was actually quite good.   You wouldn't know it from all the trashing it is getting in the press for its relatively modest box office numbers.

No spoilers, but if you like Star Wars, definitely don't miss this one.

I haven't seen it but I came across this article, "The Han Solo Movie That Almost Was," and it talks about how the original vision of the movie was going to be this gritty, film-noir / French New Wave / getaway / gritty 60s kind of flick, but the original filmmakers pushed the execs and the studio too far – resulting in a reshoot of like 75% of the movie.

The stills do make the cinematography look pretty amazing. I would have gone in for that gritty flick. Dunno if I'll see this one.

I thought Rogue One was great, better than Episode VII.

The boy and I went yesterday. I thought it was fun. We laughed out loud for a few scenes. I was distracted by the actor who played Han but looked nothing like the character. I kept feeling like it was a new character. I was also distracted by all the famous actors. I kept seeing Woody and Daenerys. Oh well, we had a great time. Lando actor was impressive. I felt that could be Lando.

I would have loved it as a noir film.

I also didn't go in with any expectations (rare for me) and thought it was good...or good enough.

I agree Rogue one is the best of the new four.
