My Friend Mike.... We have been Friends since 1979 and are only 2 days apart in age Long Time Surfer friends .. We Met up today for a couple Beers ... We Both Squint a little bit More and That is O.K.
I have a good ole' friend whom I've know since we were in diapers, we grew up 1/2 a block away from each other, both of us been married and divorced, both of us buried both our parents. We still see each other a couple a times a year and we joke that we'll know each other when we're in diapers again! We are kinda different people but it doesn't matter, the friendship supersedes any and all differences, we will be friends forever plus.
Whew, makes me feel so gracious and lucky. You only get one or maybe 2 of these your whole life. I am a lucky man.
kevin, my close friend since 7th grade, '77...best man at his wedding, godfather to one of his sons, held him in my arms the day his son died in a car accident and wept as we buried him two years ago..
Thanks for this! Just today I was thinking back to the "Girl Scouts Chant" ...keep old friends they are gold but new are Silver.Something like that. After a gruelling day of"legal documents notarized etc " I took a a close friend, who I've known for 22 years to lunch because she was my witness that she knew me and Bart.I am me.I am very grateful for all my material shit, but am not inheriting a a big thing in New Jersey. So my friend & I went to a local restaurant, and I see the whole family of a couple who were my friends in Truckee in 1978,they moved here in Grass Valley before Bart and I. Even their VERY cool 3 year old grandson. We hadn't seen each other for awhile.Way hugs and Love All Around.
My oldest friend, best man and show buddy (150+) passed at age 40 almost 20 years ago. Been going to shows alone since. Gawd I wish we could have seen the Q again and again ...
Been best friends with my buddy JD for 40 years since we met at age 6. He lives in Palm Desert, FL
Me, Him and a third buddy Scotty G. all met in the neighborhood when we were six and have been great friends ever since. We all lived in a three flat in East Boston from 1998-2001 with another buddy Bdog and then JD's grandad pop (RIP) living in the basement. Pop would drink at the bar all morning then pound beers all afternoon while feeding questionable sausage from his freezer to JD's dog Rocko (RIP) while we're at work. That dog would kill us with the worst farts all night long.
I remember we would get buckets of bait (herring) in Gloucester on the pier across from the boat Hannah Bowden of "The Perfect Storm" fame then we would go fishing in Rockport which is a dry town except when we showed up with a full cooler. Drinking, smoking nug and 20 striper days on the rocks with great friends. Rocko (half black lab and half rottweiler) loved striper fishing with us unfortunately he didn't understand the whole keeper concept or the difference between sea water and fresh water we brought. Man did the back of my car smell like wet dog while we were driving home listening to the Grateful Dead. Used to catch herring at lower mystic lake then transport them alive in my truck to where ever we would fish in Boston or on Cape Cod. Ice fishing trips to Lake Champlain (North Hero) we're more fun then people should be allowed to have. It was the best of times looking back!
