Green Leaf Rustlers - Oakland - TONIGHT

Forums:

Hey VLZ,

Life is getting in the way of my heading down to see CR, Sless, et al in Oaktown tonight.

It's super late notice (opener at 8:45, GLR at 9:30?) but if anyone wants free tickets, let me know and I will email them out asap.  It's a long story but I actually have four to distribute to anyone interested...

Come on Zone! Who wants to go? No spot taken, I am in oHIGHo...

Nice offer, but I already have tickets and will be headed over in an hour....

Wish I could. Love the logo. Think they got T-shirts? 2 XL

Woz, if you want me to email you the PDFs, you could walk a couple kind people through the door...

Hate seeing stubs go to waste.

Sure, go ahead.

Hey Woz,

If you end up getting all the tix, would you mind meeting at the door this evening?

I can give you my cell# via email.

Enjoy the show, regardless.

Thanks for offering to help Woz but since Johnny can actually use the tickets, I'll just send them to Johnny D's hotmail address in his profile.

Johnny feel free to distribute extras to those in need!

Email sent Johnny

Thanks for offering to help Woz but since Johnny can actually use the tickets, I'll just send them to Johnny D's hotmail address in his profile.

Even better!

See you there Skudebro!

Thanks so much, Salvador!!!

I can't wait to GTTS!

(sorry that you can't make it)

Fun show last night! Johnny, did you make it down? I didn’t see you!

Any set list?

Coulda, woulda, shoulda...

Way too much fun last night!  Sless and Sears absolutely blew my mind a few times. Sless was almost entirely on pedal steel, with at least one song on the axe (which was a treat).  And Molo often brought the heat, of course.  I'm really enjoying the opportunities to see my favorite core "house band" play with other musicians (ala California Kind).  Such great musicians and fun to hear how they play a bit differently, depending on who is fronting the band (still missing the DNB, though).

Lots of good ole Rock 'n' Roll, with some jammy parts.  And a little Band-esque Americana funk at times. And of course some good straight-up rocking Country/Folk as well.  Nice to hear them play covers in their own way.  Greg brings the Telecaster twang/rock and Chris had a few more effects on his guitar, which added color.

Great vibe in the audience and wonderful to have a mini-DNB-style reunion with some of the regular Maniacs.  Great to hang with Redneck and Alias, Hey Davey, Dicky B, MarkD, the Nevins, and others whom my addled brain can't recall at this time.

Woz, I saw you and yours up near the front, but was too loopy to make my way up there.

Definitely a fun party band, with just a little bit extra, IMHO.

Many thanks to Salvadore Vagrante for providing me with a real good time!

Monday with a blessing at the Chapel...

^Nice catch, WALSTIB.

I bet these guys get tighter and tighter with each gig.

Which reminds me: I haven't seen Chris Robinson much, but when I've seen him at TXR, he's looked pretty blurry-eyed and baked.  Last night, not so much.  Seemed pretty sharp, relatively speaking.  Not sure if that was a valid observation, but perhaps ironic given the band's green theme.

thanks to Zooey for the setlist, and to Johnny D for the review!

I had intentions of being at this show... but then life got in the way

hoping for a stream or webcast for tonight's GLR show at the Sweetwater!

I was at this show in my suit having come from a trial lawyers dinner at The Claremont. It was weird still being in my suit but the show was a RIPPER!!! Seems like these guys have been playing together for many years. Which is true for 3 of the 5 members so it makes sense. Sless was incredible on Pedal Steel and Molo and Sears were awesome. The Groupie was really really good as were most of the songs !!!

Johnny D really sorry I didn't run into you.

^Sweet!  The cameras are on, but the bands not on yet.

Thanks for the heads up, Gary.

BTW: Here a youtube aud from one of the TXR Hootenanny Heroes shows with a similar lineup (Jason Crosby instead of Greg L.)
