Grateful Dead 1 14 1967 Golden Gate Park, SF {New}

Forums:

Hello:

I have been dreading this task for 5 months. But working with anything that has Jerry Garcia in it, is a labor of love that can't be put into words.

I edited 90 unseen silent news film clips back together into a seamless video of 9 minutes and 32 seconds of the Great Human Be In at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on January 14th of 1967.

Of that, I only have a few minutes of video of the band the Grateful Dead on stage and a lot of footage the Great Human Be crowd scene

There is even a 10 second snippet in the middle, of the Grateful Dead performing at Columbia University in New York a year later.

I used the audio to the Grateful Dead’s set of 1.14.1967 that I had on disc here

I selected the song Morning Dew; remastered and overdubbed it onto this video.

Peace

Fucking awesome with cans on.....!

From Wikipedia:

"Morning Dew" became a signature song of the Grateful Dead whose frontman Jerry Garcia was introduced to the Fred Neil recording by roadie Laird Grant in 1966. The Grateful Dead introduced "Morning Dew" into their repertoire as their opening number at the Human Be-In in January 1967: that same month the group recorded their self-titled debut album featuring "Morning Dew" and released that March.

Also:

Google / YouTube contacted me to point out that I won some kind of award and the tools they supply me with are amazing. Something I was not aware of.

They Google internet security advisor pointed out that 92% of a videos of mine that have a single dislike is from the same person (IP), without even viewing the video. They just don't like me.

I went to my YouTube's channel analytical data to find out, this is only happening on the videos I post here at Viva that I just uploaded. Second later, the dislike

What might be trolling to this person is now a test bed of how to deal with this issue.

I used the posting of this video's announcement here as that test - & 2 minutes later, there was a dislike on this video. YouTube contacted me, as I was reaching out to them.

If you do not like me and you are not banned already here. Your best bet is to get your aggressions out here.  Not on YouTube

Because YouTube is Google & they can make the internet a not such a fun place for you.

I am on a Beta test with them, not just with their security, creative, and upload power. It's how I have dealt with Sony, Warner Brothers, The Frank Zappa estate, Grateful Dead properties, and the family & estate of Jerry Garcia. Just to name a few. Just to spread some music.

We will figure out what to do & will not let one looser ruin the party.

Peace be with you

Wow Ted. Thank you. I need to squeeze that text in there. That's very important. I did not know that.

I hate loosers.

They're so... loose.

(Nice video!)

Opps Oh well. hahaha

Thanks a lot Lance

Does the disliker leave a comment?  Or just Laugh Out Loud to himself?

I'll check out the video later when I'm on the clock.

Your post makes me want to leave a negative post on your YouTube page without watching the video just to be harassed by google

Please do that as soon as possible. I bet you don't ^ If you do, you better to have saved the links. You would need Google to find your way back.

>>Or just Laugh Out Loud to himself?

He is just the LOL guy. The day of its banning is when it started.

whaa

you took on the black widow but are fretting over a  lone 'disliker'

nice work on that vid...

Jerry's family were the first to reach out and say nice things 3 months ago. I gave them "Hearts" last week to show the love

If you do not like me and you are not banned already here. Your best bet is to get your aggressions out here.  Not on YouTube

err I'd caution you on that...

Either way.

Do people have subscriptions to your Youtube channel? If so, aren't they getting notifications of new videos?

And yes, I'm with WALSTIB - aggressions here? Not welcome.

>>Do people have subscriptions to your Youtube channel? Yes, I have 248 subscibers.

Yes, I have 248 subscribers that do receive an email a few hours later, well after I posted the "You Saw It Here First" post here.

All of my subscribers are amazingly supportive even if the video sucks.  Truly heartwarming.

I think Phl is trolling you Bluelight.

Ray Davies from the Kinks is trolling me.

I troll Phil's valet guy.

My Frank Zappa the Revenge of Stinkfoot Mini Movie passed all the various stops of the Zappa estate and YT. But YouTube doesn't now, how, or where to file it still. Could be profane?

Always Grateful to Juidit & for Viva for sure. I think the only way to link to it, is from here

Thanks Viva

Great video, thanks for posting!

also,  I have a troll on my youtube channel, only for me, I'll post a video on FB, and within a few minutes I'll usually have a dislike, lol...

Is passive aggressive allowed here?

>>>Ray Davies from the Kinks is trolling me

say what???

Hey Bluelight, Great video! I must inform you that the Grateful Dead portions of the video are not from 1/14/67. Jerry played a cherry red 1964 Guild Starfire III and wore a red sweater for that one. Your GD segments are from 6/21/67 where Jerry wore the striped red and blue shirt and played a black 1957 Gibson.

lol

This fucking guy

Don't ever change Bluelight.  You’re hilarious.

Thank you for that slipnut. I appreciate it & you know it

I barley recall making this video. But will update that text as soon as my PC is done with some tasks & straighten that out.

>>>>I barley recall

Yep

Hahha whole lotta hops (sp) too?

Barley Recall could be a drunken Terminator spinoff

 aggressions here? Not welcome.<<<<

My first year of college, I was assigned a roommate who had never drank or used drugs and wasn't partaking in college.

One day he came back to our room and asked me if he could borrow a big pillow I had on my bed.  He took it over to his bed, sat down, and punched the pillow repeatedly for about a minute, then gave me the pillow back and calmly said "thank you".

I stuck with the pots.

Slipnut, the photographer/producer from my GD footage is still alive and I have his contact information.

This time and dated is verified news reel footage that was archived on the week after the Human Be In. 1/1967

Before, I reach out to him and his staff & compose a letter of thanks and lightly bring up the archive's date.

Please do a lot of footwork to find out the source's date from the footage/pictures you are comparing this to.

I will then update all my information & have the BBC admin update the file's date

I will fix this text & title tonight, with all the help given from the folks above.

I'm just little burnt-out, from going to 2 hot shows in a row and the extra work I have been giving myself.

Paging slipknot. Did you try and contact me this morning point on YT pointing out the GD miss date? If not, then we have 2 fans, plus me, that's 3, that want to nail this date down. If possible

My copy of these news reels film snippets are first generation, all existing footage out previous to this came from CBC footage, which is 4-5 generations away from the BBC footage that I used.

There was an AP wire about the Dead grabbing equipment from Monterey 6/18 for 6/21. But I personally can't find a formal photograph of 6.21.67

I don't want to regurgitate wrong information.

I would re-title it 1967, before I used previous footage with the possible wrong date to reference as a date, since that footage is a copy of my first generation footage. The buck stops here with that

The Grateful Dead both formally and informally played several shows at various areas of Golden Gate Park; that were documented & undocumented.  Even with limited funds, Jerry Garcia could have taken off a sweater or switched a guitar at any point of any show. Many of these shows had no permits as well

I'm toast..

In 1967 ^ 51 years ago.

I wasn't going to say anything, but the long-shots and crowd shots from the OP's footage are clearly not from the Polo Fields, where the Human Be-In happened. This thread's footage looks like Speedway or Lindley Meadow, definitely not the Polo Fields.

Yes, I will rename it in 1967. But will not reference the Grateful Dead clips used as 6.21.67.

There were at least 8 shows at GG after 1/27/67 - before chocolate George's funeral on 8.28.67. Where Jerry is wearing the same shirt as the new clip. None of the prior footage are first generation other the what I used.

>>various areas of Golden Gate Park

If you read my text carefully on Youtube, I was very clear about using various clips, even one from 1968.

lol

lol

>>OP's footage are clearly not from the Polo Fields

Did you watch the video I made until the end?

It's a travel through the field (I did in reverse). The final scene starting at the 9:32 mark,. The film camera is on a tripod filming the Highway/Street sign of Middle Drive entrance to the Polo Field.

This morning I have received a voice mail from this award winning cinematographer of this work "Bill" in the UK, saying, "Great job, I it thought it was trash & will try and dig up more clips and make the available.  By the way regarding your question-, we were working for the BBC news agency at the time & stand by its location and date"

For what its worth...

Bluelight special

Please help to choose the thumbnail photograph of these 2 photographs I post here for this Bluelight Special video.

Keep in mind, the photo will only be about 2 inches square as quick preview of what's possibly inside.

Where do I click to vote?

I am embarrassed as you can see by this video being done quickly without a game plan & was a mistake.

I am learning on the fly, I suppose.

I did not know I could publish a video privately and not publicly.

If ever given the opportunity to do this again with any content with Jerry Garcia in it. I will create the video to the best of my ability.

Then post the private link on Viva and help create it with much of the knowledgeable input available here. Even the soundtrack.

But, I am a nobody and don't see that opportunity happening again. But, if I cross the bridge again, will do a better job & confer here first & maker it as a team of Jerry's most dear fans.

>>Where do I click to vote?

We'll tally the up the votes posted here in a few days & slap it on?

Slipnut is an GD archivist for us on the internet & well as others. So we might have some other information as well.

Again, sorry folks.

Please support Viva La Zone, you can't find better humor around town.

I got an immediate dislike as soon as I was done posting this here & have since pulled the video down from YouTube.

I republished this video, removing many of the public features.

Same link as above.

>>>Did you watch the video I made until the end<<<

Yeah I did, and I saw the shot of the sign, but none of the footage of the crowds or the band are taken from the Polo Fields.

It's still a good video, but you want to be accurate, right?

you might be right- however - the early color footage could be Polo Fields- judging by the hedges behind the stage- which matches the polo fields.

All other footage I've seen of the Be In- I don't think GD were attired the same- could be wrong though. So this may not be the Be-In.   Dead did a lot of shows  in the park back then.

All the BW footage is definitely Speedway- and the later color footage as well.

Yes, Lance, I do.  Please jot down and post any "sing posts to space" here

Thanks to both of you. It really helps.

It looks just like Hardly Strictly Bluegrass.

Nope.  Definitely Outside Lands.
