Well, no Pink Floyd covers last night. In fact, I didn't recognize any covers. They were pretty much doing the hard rock deal all night with straight up loud crunchy blues rock jams. Sounded a lot like Cactus or Mountain.
I was hoping for some more groovy, jammy stuff, but for a Wednesday night, wasn't complaining too much.
The Roseland was the Roseland for sure, but with so many edibles and potions these days, there were much fewer people smoking than in the days of old and fewer yellow shirts to hassle people for it (my buddy incredulously sparked a phatty and we were able to smoke half of it before he was told to put it out).
Crowd was 92% dudes easy. There were a handful of wives and girlfriends in attendance, but it was one of the biggest sausage fests I have ever seen.
Mule is great as long as the venue is big enough for the sound and you don't sit on the sides close up in front of the speakers and you bring ear plugs, love it. Check, check and check.
First show: Flew out to Berkeley back in the Summer of 1999 for Phil & Friends Summer Session. (Opening Sets of Galactic, Gov't Mule, String Cheese Incident before 2 Full Sets of Phil & Friends) and had NEVER heard anything about Gov't Mule. I made it to soundboard when Haynes, the Late Great Allen Woody, & Matt Abbs strolled out onto the stage and i remember thinking "Who are these Biker looking dudes?" and was resigned to something that might be 'Meh' based on just 3 dudes....
FUCKING LOVE BEING WRONG!@@@@!!!!! Blown away!!! Thorazine Shuffle. Mule-->I've Been Working-->Mule. and that was just the first 18 minutes of one sick Power Trio. Looking forward to hear what Gov't Mule 2018 sounds like! As another wise Zoner once said "Go To The Show!" (...If you can Reach PHX)
Excellent show last night (as usual) at the MacDonald in Eugene-
Nice venue- lots of ladies- bar in the lobby- no drinks allowed outside the bar which kept the sloppy drunk talking idiots to almost non existence in the theater.

The Man I Want To Be
Thank You for A Sonic Trip and Raucous Mule Rampage! Fucking Amazing! The Loser and LA Woman tease were signal the Mule was galloping at full speed but was about to hit an even better stride. Abbs crushed the entire night but was extremely thunderous on an impressive finale Blind Man In The Dark.
The Van Buren was impressively chill scene with ample parking and really laid-back house staff. (They had Outside area for All smoking needs so naturally not really much if any smoke inside---which is cool.)
That 6 Hour Pay-Per View at Red Rocks tomorrow night will be a steal for $15. They are blazing the stage and am psyched to hear some Gov't Floyd in HD.

Last night at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver BC was the usual great loud rockin' time.
A nice surprise was the ABB's 'Come and Go Blues'. Always loved that tune.
