i was reading the last book and watching the end of not last seasons, but the one before (when they passed the books) and i kept mixing up what was happening in each.
solid advice to read the books first.

Tried to read the books and had a hard time keeping the characters separate and keeping track of everything. May go back at this point though.

Yes, the books can be a bit tedious with so many characters, but worth it even if you need to re-read a lot of passages.
The show has been better than I thought it would be but it's still no match for the books. The Sheeran cameo totally ruined the vibe, celebrity cameos are way too cheesy in a show that doesn't need any more gimmicks what with dragons, nudity and violence. What next, Glenn Danzig as a WW?

things seem like they are going to move fast this season. i am betting sam will have jorah cured of greyscale well before the end of the season so he can reunite with dany with time to spare. littlefinger will be pissed when jon heads to dragonstone to try and get some dragonglass, he wont be able to pit jon and sansa against each other anymore and sansa will tell him to piss off at every oppertunity...im sure littlefinger will underestimate sansa and some pretty bad deceptions will be revealed

I don't think so, at least it shouldn't be, JS knew by the time wun wun died to burn the dead, besides the wildlings also burn their dead; so unless the writers decided to go off their own script, that's some different asshole white walker giant, not wun wun.
Incidentally, the hound probably should've burned the girl and her father. Guess the LoL didn't tell him about the zombie thing.

I wouldn’t read the books if
I wouldn’t read the books if you haven't watched the show unless you are into 200 page descriptions of Cersei’s third cousin twice removed who has nothing to do with moving the story forward. The only thing I have to say for the books is you really did feel like you had spent months marching through the rain on the way to the Red Wedding because it took a month to read the step by step description of that march.
The show is better. It is easier to follow the show if you read the books, but if you have already seen the shows there is no need to go back and read the books.
