Not all hype. Here in western Essex County, NJ, the snow clumps, the size of my hand, are coming down at a ferocious rate. Plow came by 20 mins ago and the road has at least 2 inch of fresh on it.
Here in northern VA we got about maybe four inches, tough shoveling with the sleet and freezing rain mixed in, probably would have been eight inches if it was all snow. Have to break out my square point shovels and get crackin. No excuse for our paper not to be here, hope the guys ok.
Thanks, Jaz... hopefully this lets all the westies get to the cap on time. Safe trip to all where ever you go today.
Thanks Jaz, whiteout early this a.m. in Ct... hartford (and port chester, ny it looks like) right on the line of 12-18 and 18-24...all depends on a mixture of sleet and or rain expected this afternoon...
Got between 4-6 inches w a lull at moment...heaviest yet to come...
Got 2-3 inches overnight, turned into rain and now ice pellets. A Maple fell on the main 3-phase power line about 8-ish AM, knocking out power to the entire neighborhood (but not me). Electric Co. and tree crewe were right on it; they just left.
My driveway is slushy sludge like someone doused it with a giant Mud Slurpee. This will become a Luge run when the temps drop, so I fear that I must park the truck up the hill by the Barns... just in case I decide to go for groceries or stuff.
All in all, I'm happy that there's no 12" overnight accumulation. Hüsky, of course, loves this shiite and refuses to come back indoors. I think we'll get a few more inches after dark.
