It's been going on over a week now. Replaced the right - front line w/ stainless line, and filled the reservoir with fresh DOT-3 fluid.
Lo and Behold, 'pop' goes the rear line from ABS controller to rear axle / brakes.
So, a simple 2-hour fix, right ??
Merely remove the 8 - foot bed from pickup truck frame, and bolt that Stainless line right in.
HOKEY TOLEDO !! The bed bolts are not coming off. They 'Loc-Tited' them in there and then, Jerseyland rust.
But I got beyond being Urinated-off just the other day. I devised a work-around for this project.

So I got that damned line
So I got that damned line fished over the gas tank, under the bed.
Connected it to both orifices with the stubby 9/16" wrench.
Off to score more DOT3 brake fluid, then tomorrow I bleed the brake system.
Also I saw some Beautiful Black Butterflies while I worked on the project.
Soon they will mate, lay eggs and spawn weird caterpillars.
Disco shop cost:
Stainless brake lines; already bought :: $ +/- 30 - 40 bucks
DOT3 Brake Fluid :: $ 10-12 bucks
Replace broken Craftsman 18 mm socket :: Free under lifetime warranty
"Real mechanic" shop cost :: 700 - 1100 bucks ??

Nice thing about having no
Nice thing about having no brakes is that there is no temptation to bring it to the shop and pay someone else to work om it.
Rained all day, so I did not bleed the brake system. I don't mind crawling around under the truck, but the Mud dampens my enthusiasm. Quite interesting how even when all the lines are in there and the reservoir is full of fresh new fluid, the brakes don't actually function at all until you evacuate the Air.
So I've come to realize these are not 'Air Brakes'. I'd like those some day, as DOT3 brake fluid is costly, and Air is free.

Pictures are still at the
Pictures are still at the FotoMat. It takes longer to develop that Hasselblad large-format stuff, so they tell me.
Gotta go pick up one more 'Speed Bleeder' brake-bleeder screw. I got one faulty item in the last two-pack.

Everyone should get these things. It makes everything so much easier. You'll never go back to the conventional brake-bleeder screw.

OK--
OK--
Happy to report that Truck Brakes are working properly again.
I installed 4 brand-new "Speed Bleeders" and flushed all the Air out today.
Stopping activity seems Normal for now.
Tried to contact Mr. VooDoo to take photographs of the Scene, because I am a Fan of his photography efforts.
Next step is to cure the faulty Transmission Line.
Soon enough, I'll be back in the Firewood Biz, with the Grace of the Godz.

Thanks Mr. JazFish.
Thanks Mr. JazFish.
I really prefer repairing my old vehicles, if it is possible.
There's some satisfaction in fixing it yerself, and then the $$ saved can buy Luxuries like Food & Utility bills.
