The Golden Age of Marijuana

Forums:

Living as I do in California, I've been saying that we've been living in the Golden Age of Marijuana for about 15 years now. This is not to say that there have not been problems with the legalization of weed in California, but it's been very cool to experience the freedom of going into a dispensary and walking out with a sack of ganja goodies, and being able to legally grow your own takes liberty to another level.

With that as the background, it occurred to me today that, in my house at least, we've reached the Zucchini Stage of the game. I grew so much last year in my little weedpatch that I've been giving the stuff away. Some people might think I'm nuts for giving away what could otherwise be sold, but the way I see it, being able to grow your own is a gift in and of itself, and that's just the kind of world I want to live in.

Oh, and Racket, I expect you to troll the fuck out of this thread; if you don't I'll be very disappointed.

I remember what it was like being without for a variety of reasons. One of them was growing up in New England in the 70s, where weed was always scarce in the summer.

> giving when one can just makes sense

I grew more weed than I could possibly smoke last year, so at Christmastime, just when the fall harvest is really coming into cure, I gifted friends more than a pound. That just made sense to me, and the feeling of being able to do it was its own kind of high.

I have a 10+ year old ball of resin in my bedside table. It really wasn't that long ago that it would have come in handy. I don't know why the hell I keep it. Maybe it's like a security blanket.

I have still have grocery bags of untrimmed flower from two years ago and jars and jars of nugs in the closet, but I have ready access to free and even better weed.    Thinking back to the late 80s and early 90s, the situation today can only be described as a Golden Age.

Yeah I have a big mason jar full of bud from a friend, but I've become particular about my strains so it mostly just sits there. My younger self would shake his head in disgust at me.

The irony for me and is that I have more than I can ever use, and consume less than ever. I have 11 strains sitting here to choose from, and all I do is take 1 hit a night. My teen and hound adult self would be sickened by this sorry state of affairs.

It's strange, I'm in the same boat ... although a road trip from Colorado to southern Florida through Texas and the gulf states served as a great reminder about not taking things for granted!   Same goes for not being complacent to more frequent visits to Moab, UT!

I'm currently on a plane to Florida. My cousin's boyfriend has a card. He sent me the link to his dispensary, I told him what I want, and he's dropping it off at our AirB&B shortly after we arrive.

Pretty fucking sweet!

That's weird synchronicity ... glad you've got it figured out, enjoy the trip!

Thanks. I really need some sun, salt water, and sand.
