Are you going to LOCKN? HomegrownRadioNJ has a Pair of 4 Day Passes that will be offered to LOCKN 2017 in a Silent Auction! (camping fees not included).. If you are interested in saving some $ on your Pair of Tix, while supporting listener-sponsored, non-commercial Radio, just email me at [email protected] and I will fill you in on the details...

Peach fest for me.

I am waiting for LOCKN to reschedule to a non-humid month before going again. ;)

Like the lineup this year, though.

Most uninspiring lineup yet.

Its only 30 minutes down the road and Im skipping my first Lockn this year.

Cant believe they are doubling down on Phil for this, given the fact that he cant seem to put together a good show at Lockn.  I would have thought they'd give him a Sunday noon mercy slot at the end of which he'd be given his watch, thanked for his service, and sent down the road.

Never been. Wife and I would love to go but can't swing the scratch. Not necessarily the tix but the favors and everything else included (food, gas, lodging, etc.)

Maybe we'll get there......only a handful of bands I really would want to see. And as mentioned above, Phil's track record has not been the best here, and he would be one of them. Also JRAD late night could be really fun!

That Friday lineup looks fantastic. I wish u could make it!

wheres grace potter?

That Thurs lineup would put me in the mental institution . . .

^^^ totally agree re: Thursday lol

"mercy slot" lmao

The phil.moe set should really suck donkey balls.......

Still digesting the fact that Ross James will be the lead guitarist for the big Friday headliner set @ a major fest like this.  Unless there's some major guesting (Warren?)

And yes, we're going to Peach . . .

HomegrownRadioNJ.org is still offering a PAIR of 4 Day Concert Passes to LOCKN Festival 8/24 - 8/27, 2017. It's a Silent Auction, $420.00 minimum bid, Highest bid wins a Pair of 4 Day Passes (Camping Fees not included). Bidding ends July 15, 2017 @ 11:59pm (EDT).

One bid per person. You MUST email your bid to: [email protected]

Good Luck!!!

Friday only.  Ann Wilson was the REAL draw.

((((MULEGUEST))))

get up get into it

Get INVOLVED!

xoxoxo

That Thurs lineup would put me in the mental institution . . .  <<<<<<<<

Ha Ha LOL !

Two late night JRAD sets would be the primary for me.......just not worth it.

Too bad Shappy.............you're slowly losing it.

I actually think Philmoe. might stand a chance of being decent

Have done Peach last few years, big fun. 3.5 hours from home (CNY). Old balls so did CID deal at Hampton. Solid. Camping is hard: in your own tent is on a ski slope, in one they provide is right above the small stage and pools, etc - kind of interesting, but blazing sun from early morning on. Plus, you have to mule your shit from far away lots. Each year, hit up area on Sunday where campers start the pack out and they all look like refugees muling out. Too old for that.

Did DSO Jubilee for 1st time and tented (car camping) for 1st time in years. Worked out very well actually. Cots are man's best invention ever. Great little fest BTW.

Doing Lockn for 1st time.

Renting an RV. Picking it up halfway between CNY & Arrington. Should be interesting. Never driven or stayed in an RV before. Like idea of pulling in and plugging in to power they provide to get A/C as needed. Same $ as doing Peach CID deal. Psyched about late night JRAD!

sorry about the triplicate post!

not sure what happened there!

Greetings, Mark! Welcome to LOCKN family! Kinda took the torch from The Vibes for East Coast good-family repeat offender vibes. This will be my 4th time going, so hit me up if you need anything...or want to meet up...<[email protected]>

Call da wambulance....and bring your wallet...

I'm not going but I have to laugh at the 'weak lineup' comments.  This is a jamband cream pie.

  • I am back for my 5th.
  • The usual group of miscreants will be in tow.
  • Back to GA camping after VIPing it last year.
  • The new configuration should cut down the walk to and fro.
  • Sunday's Philmoe is gonna surprise
  • Ross James will not be left on his own
  • Terrapin Station will be epic.
  • Epic, in the literal sense, if Bob controls the tempo

<<<<Terrapin Station will be epic.

Anything has to be better than Phil's plodding "crickets just seem vain at last" version last year.......which was put in stark relief by JRAD's absolutely swinging version right after Phil played.

<<<This is a jamband cream pie.

Precisely why it's weak.

Terrible "genre".

  • I go with the theory that last year Phil was not a headliner and you got the crazy ensemble.
  • The set with Chris Robinson following the Brotherhood's set was just too much Robinson for my ears, and lacked a freshness, had CRB not just played.
  • The years Phil has headlined he's delivered the goods

Count me in.  We're pumped for Thursday.

Disco Biscuits late night untz untz untz.

Feel free to drop me a line if you want to meet up and hang.  [email protected]

I'm curious as to what inspired you to go the last couple years? The lineup has always been 'terrible'.

A sampling of what drew me over the years above and beyond the music of the Grateful Dead in its various incarnations......

Jimmy Cliff, John Fogerty, Larry Keel, Allman Bros, Tom Petty, Dumpstahfunk, The Wailers,  Cabinet, Steve Winwood, Wilco, Drive by Truckers, Gary Clark Junior, Santana, Willie Nelson, Doobie Bros, Joe Cocker Tribute,  Fishbone, Robert Plant, Moon Taxi, Charles Bradley,  peter Wolf, Gary Clark Jr, My Morning jacket, Ween

Somehow, the Avert Bros just don't fill that void for me this year.

>>>Somehow, the Avert Bros just don't fill that void for me this year.>>>

I would prefer if the Avetts were playing by themselves. Adding Bobby to the mix will just slow them down, as he does to everyone he plays with...

Two late nights with JRAD will be great, but really is an underwhelming lineup this year. I'm not big on Mule, Panic, nor Phil's recent concoctions, so the draw is weak.

>>I'm not going but I have to laugh at the 'weak lineup' comments.  This is a jamband cream pie.

Not much different than the last few years, there have always been people complaining and dissing this and that about the whole lockn thing.seems like the lineup may have been slightly different or stronger over the past few years, still not many positive reviews about the whole thing historically.

Still, the Phil/Bobby, Mule, Phil, Mule, Blackberry Smoke, Jrad looks as good as any lineup they have had there. IMO...

Hoping this year they all rock it out strong for everyone attending, and yea friday is tempting. Blackberry Smoke is a big plus, they should be the headliner, lol. One of the better bands there imo.

>> Blackberry Smoke

Lol I missed that one. What is this, 2012?

Foghorne, Blackberry Smoke looks like a bunch of John Mayer clones.

Still thinking about this one... its a hefty ticket price but only an hour from home...

Hi Scarlet.... only an hour from home? Knowing you have been through the emotional mill recently,  If finance is not an issue a good show if not 2 or even 3 is what this doctor is ordering.  My prescription is  to do it with zero expectations, drink plenty of water and call me in the morning.

{{{Neal Young & Crazy Horse}}}

Need to show up after bailing on the original LOCKN because they owe it to the fans...

>>>>Need to show up after bailing on the original LOCKN because they owe it to the fans...

That's just Crazy talk

Obviously it's impossible to equate one artists with another -- as it's all subjective -- but you could replace most of the bands on your list with a band at this year's Lockin.

Again, it's personal preference, but I don't really see the difference between this year and the past few years.

As far as Bobby playing with the Avetts -- that's kind of Lockin's thing, no?  I don't want to pay to see either but my understanding was 'cross pollination' was what Lockin is all about?

thursday's lineup is sick!!!

I really wanna go this year...just cant make this work, though...

Yet...

>>but I don't really see the difference between this year and the past few years.

PHISH x 2

Wish I went last year.

Theres always phish x13

Sio - Phish is the epitome of jambands and jam bands are 'terrible'.

Just trying to stay on track

>>thursday's lineup is sick!!!

right up your alley! wear your dancing shoes!!!!

>>>Somehow, the Avert Bros just don't fill that void for me this year.>>>

Not to worry, Kenny. I saw the Avett Brothers at Mountain Jam a few years ago, and Bobby sat in for 3 tunes I think, and it was Smokin'!!!

>>>I'm not going but I have to laugh at the 'weak lineup' comments.  This is a jamband cream pie.>>>

This. Thank you, Jonas.

But seriously it is pretty eclectic with acts like John Butler Trio, John Fogerty, Brandi Carlisle, Greensky Bluegrass , The Record Company and Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Eric Krasno & Jim James...

>>>I'm curious as to what inspired you to go the last couple years? The lineup has always been 'terrible'.

Virginia, the drive, being outside, getting away for a week, the vibe, the music. (notice the music is last)

There's enough music I can get by on.

Wish there would be a solid two set headliner to end Sat and Sun.

But festivals these days like to be radio stations, all music all the time, constantly changing the channel.

Started doing festivals all those years ago to get out of the sheds, and now festivals are over exposed and waning....

And you can add the local hard cider, PieMan and Maryland Crab Cakes as to why Lockn.

Overall, it fits for me, I need something, but agree some lineups have been a bit weak.

Hence why I haven't yet bought my ticket lol

A parent of a lil one I tested for special education services last year is in Sun Dried Opossum (Friday night).. The best part of the school meeting was when he said, "Well, I need a miracle.." and I replied with "every day!" We both laughed and every one else around the table looked at us like we had 2 heads. smiley

Back to LOCKN, I think I'm in for just Friday as of now...

lockn2017_artistSchedule_300dpi_1080x1080_v11.png

Friday is the night to go, don't miss Blackberry Smoke or Sun Dried Opossum.

Nicki Bluhm is a great addition as is Ann Wilson. Coming right up.

Marcus King Band is also not to be missed..

Nicki Bluhm is my girl crush wink

>>>>>is in Sun Dried Opossum

There's gotta be a Loudon Wainwright/GD tribute band called "Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road".

When they make it big after they play at Lockn they can shorten it to just "Dead Skunk".

Sun Dried Opossum should cover Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road..

Where is this concert?

Antibalas is the must see band at Lock'n     imho  of course

Lotsa good stuff sprinkled in there,  Thursday I could skip.  Phil-moe. looks appealing.

I'm saving up to do some car repairs & maintenance.  It's an expensive camping / concert price,  and a bit far.  The element which I disliked was the long line and wait between arrival and getting to the camp-spot.  I've heard that's getting better over time.

jklowan, never have but Antibalas is on the must see list

add John Butler Trio to that as well.

A lot of good music at the Blue Ridge Bowl this year.

^^^^Arrington, Virginia

voodoo c'mon up to RI, they are playing in a tiny club. The Paradise wed september the 13th, you'd have crash space

>>>Phil-moe. looks appealing.

I'm not sure if they'll be playing... their bassist, Rob, has been diagnosed with throat cancer.  Hope he'll be okay.

Pumped for a good time!

Lockn is still on for moe.

http://www.moe.org/news/a-letter-to-our-famoe-ly/

Due to unforeseen circumstances, moe. will be going on indefinite hiatus effective August 1st, 2017.

We will play our remaining 2 shows in July (7/21 NYC, 7/28 Huckleberry Jam), as well as our Lockn’ Festival appearance with Phil Lesh.  Other than these 3 shows, we will be closing our doors until further notice.

More info for the Summer Tour with Railroad Earth will be forthcoming in the next few days.  Please give us some time to sort out the details.

Thank you all for your love & support.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We look forward to seeing you down the road.

Love,

Rob, Chuck, Al, Jim, & Vinnie

A letter from Rob:

Early last week I was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer.  Although I’d known something wasn’t quite right for a while, I wasn’t expecting to get this news.  The prognosis is good, and the survival rate is high.  Unfortunately the treatment will be rough on my body, and my voice.  I will be out of commission for the foreseeable future, which means, moe. will be going on an unplanned hiatus.  My treatments will begin in early August, and I will not be available for our planned summer tour.  I’m very happy that we, as a band and a fan base, were able to successfully bring moe.down back this Summer and I thank you all for your support.  My love for our music, my band mates, our crew, and all of you continually grows and I hope to be back on stage doing what I love to do sometime soon.  Until then, know that I’m in good hands, and I’m forever grateful for all of your support.

Your Pal,

Rob
