Oddly enough,  this evening I stopped in to "Habit Burger" for the first time ever.  It was not in that strip-mall last time I was there,  so I took a look.

I did not purchase anything (Burger would have went to Hüsky,  but 3 bucks & change was a bit much).

Bluest is right though,  take a day and file a report w/ the cops and tell them to look at the security cam tape/digital archive.  That was a shitty thing those little snots did.

why would you call the restaurant but not the police??? what were you expecting a fast food manager to do for you? if you came into my ramen spot with this while i was trying to work i would not have time for it either. but sorry to hear about the wallet theft. hope you didnt lose to much cash or any personal info thats not easy to shut down.

fwiw the habit is a pretty good burger. their single patty burger is, at least in my town, one of the cheapest things you can go out to eat that is really really tasty and at least somewhat filling.

 Sorry to hear about a bad experience with a Toyota, wallet and burger.   Seems your 2017 has ended in a sort of Tom Robbins way.  I'm sure you can find a few ways to make that thought even more true.

i miss the OG hamburger habit in goleta.  They were still owned independently from the original owners and had a different menu from the corporate franchise habit that has recently blown up.  (I'm surprised to hear stu has them on the east coast!)

goleta habit had chili!  Mmmm chili cheese fries.  The brother of the owner in goleta owned another joint called Cal Taco.  Also a good spot.

Friend of mine had his truck smashed in the Home Depot parking lot recently. They had him in back looking at the video within 10 minutes. Whole thing caught on tape but was too far away to get a plate #. 

A few years ago I left my wallet at the checkout stand at a Safeway. I got to my car and realized what I had done, rushed back in and there was no sign of it.

I told the store manager who immediately went back to her office to look at the video. She came out a minute later saying an older lady behind me in line took my wallet and put it in her purse.

I called the police, thinking nothing would come of it, but that afternoon an old guy showed up at my work, saying he was a semi-retired officer whose job it was to deal with these type of thefts. The next day he staked out the Safeway and amazingly the same woman showed up again. The officer confronted her and she had my wallet, saying that she took it thinking it was hers. She showed the cop her wallet and it was exactly the same as mine! She was in tears and said she was coming back to return it to the store. Everything was still inside.

The cop was beside himself when he gave me back my wallet, saying that he almost had a heart attack when he saw the woman because he almost never actually solved any of these little deals.

If you report it to the police and they actually follow through they'll look at the video and maybe something will come out of it.

Or else you could stake out the area yourself and run them down with your Toyota if you see them.

I wouldn't wait real long in that situation.  Carlos the mgr will erase the footage as per scheduled maintenance.

If you call the cops immediately,  they might act in time to at least watch the viddies & corroborate your description of the pukes.

Sure it's only 40 bucks,  but your time is valuable,  that time you had to spend talking to the Visa people,  waiting at DMV for license replacement,  etc.

Also Carlos owes you a double Habit w/ Fries for being a douchebag when you first told of the theft.
