Garcia Live vol 8

Forums:

I got this yesterday and really liking it.  I had a DAT taper friend who gave me this show as a Christmas present in 91 but I never listened to it a lot.  I think this official release sounds excellent.   It brings back memories.

"The eighth installment in the GarciaLive series presents the Jerry Garcia Band's November 23rd, 1991 performance at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI. The Fall ’91 tour as a whole is widely regarded as one of Garcia’s finest and this particular Saturday evening serves as a further testament to the legend. Fans in attendance at the Bradley Center braved an intense snowstorm and the audience's palpable energy and enthusiasm was a likely catalyst for this spirited performance. Keyboardist Melvin Seals summarized the group nicely stating "That was the magic band. It’s not that the other scenarios didn’t work out but once we got to that level of the band with (drummer) Dave Kemper, John Kahn, Jerry, myself and the singers, Jackie (LaBranch) and Gloria (Jones) we all knew we had something special. That was the band.”

Yes. I was very impressed with the sound. That was a great  tour. I caught a show the week earlier in Albany, NY. It's up on spotify if anyone wants to preview before they commit.

I attended this one and super stoked on the release sounds great

Agree with Patrick the  first set is exceptional. I would  highly recommend snatching this one  up.

I  only saw the Worcester and Providence show s,which had an  much stronger second set than this release. IMHO. To open  the second set with Lay Down Sally was a  perfect choice.

Still hoping we get another 90's release with a  killer The Maker on it. Best song Jerry was playing by a long  shot at the end of his career. The one from Worcester in 1993 ended the show. with it, which may have been the only time this  ever occurred.

I got mine too! I saved it for the saturday morning coffee and music session. It sounds really balanced. Nice energy. Melvin was right about this band.

I sprung for the poster which is also very nice. Its a landscape oriented poster. shows jerry walking through a snowstorm to the venue w his axe in hand. nice addition to the wall.

playing it all day.

Sound is great on this one.

Working my way through disc 1 now.  5 Stars!!!!

Still waiting for mine in the mail.

I've been enjoying this release too, great recording and a strong performance.

Thanks for the reviews. I was on the fence, but just ordered up a copy.

It would be better if it didn't have Lay Down Sally and Dixie on it IMO. 2nd disc looks great.

Gonna have to check this out, glad people think it was a good pick and are enjoying it.

This was a great tour, I saw the Hartford show.

Went back & picked up a Garcia hat with the 15% shopping coupon Jerry Garcia just emailed me. Can't wait.

I don't buy much GD material any more, but I'm thinking about purchasing the download for this.

For the most part, those who have listened to this release give it a thumbs up?

I'm absolutely loving it!

Mine just got delivered to the wrong address 3 towns over.
