FW '69 Box Set ?

Forums:

I was looking for this box set and did not realize it was so expensive. I would never pay what folks are asking on eBay.

But my question is, I know this was limited to 10,000 sets. There are quite a few out there that I've noticed that have "PROMO"  in the box where the limited edition # would be. We're these distributed to a lot of places? Music stores etc.?

I was just curious. Would really like to score on of these eventually.

Also, anyone hear the '78 box set? Thinking of that instead. I'm not technically sound so trying to convert files from a website to a computer (which I don't have...lol) is out of the question. Even if I was computer savvy I would most likely still pay for cuss. I really enjoy the physical cds and artwork and such. Like books and newspaper, I still love flipping the pages. It just feels right!

Sorry

One instead of on

And cds for cuss

Haha. Don't know what that was about

Hi Hooper, welcome to the collecting game! :)

I realized about 3 years ago that I really did want to collect the limited, live releases(Previously, I had convinced myself that the free stuff on archive was good enough.) I set out to do just that, using the eBay market to parlay one thing into another, buy low/sell high if you will. I have managed to accumulate everything except the 1969 box. It's the holy grail, at this point. People are definitely willing to pay more that I am for stuff. That has worked to my advantage in some cases, but not in the case of the 69 box. I feel my luck turning, though, I just unloaded my 2 extra full sets of Dave's Picks. I purchased each set for around $1,000 each, and sold them a year later for much much more.

If any Zoners ever sell their 69 box, I hope I have dibs, as I started a thread asking for one on the old Zone a couple years ago. :)

The ones marked "promo", were given to folks free, and aren't part of the numbered 10,000 copies. I probably wouldn't pony up for one of those.

If anyone has a numbered Fillmore 1969 set they want to trade, I have a sealed 1977 Winterland box(w/bonus dics), that I would swap. They go for big $ too.

The 1978 box is awesome, the sound is incredible, like any of these plangent process releases. I'm amazed that the 1978 box hasn't sold out yet, whereas the new May 77 one sold thru in days. Cornell, I guess. But essentially, they are similar in that they are Betty boards that made their way back to the vault. The one set show at Willie Nelson's Picnic thing is a really fine shorter 78 show.

If you feel like limited edition official releases are worth about $25 each (I do), they get yourself the 1978 box. That said, it's no 1969! That stuff is something special, and I'll continue to search till I get one. There's probably torrents of the whole thing available, if you search. That's how I got all the Dave's Picks, before I decided I needed the hard copies :)

You won't go wrong with the '78 set, very good sound quality (especially Keith surprisingly enough) and performances.

I will never sell my '69 set.  But my daughter probably will after I'm gone.

Thanks for the info, especially the PROMO on the '69 set.

I think I'm going to order the '78 box. I just now started buying music again (it's been years since my last CD purchase) and it feels really good!

The new May 77 box will be killer, too.

Looks like they just changed the game, and are offering more (since it sold right out), so no reason to preorder. Not numbered, though.

sold my 69 set awhile back, sorry Cam, starting to think I don't need this stuff anymore the digital files are all I end up listening to anyway, gonna get rid of my europe 72 box soon as well I think

<<But my daughter probably will after I'm gone.

well that's depressing.

I have the 78 red rocks show as they sold that show as a stand alone cd. I like it very much. Heard the other shows and it would be a great purchase imo.  I like to collect the limited stuff as well but unfortunately I can't afford them all so I have to pick and choose.  Wish I got the 78 box. My holy grail set is the 30 trips around he sun!  Wife got it for me for an anniversary gift!  It's really nice.
