I was wondering why his 2021 US Tour consisted of all southern. mostly red states. No NY, no Calif,,, gotta play where you're most comfortable.

Have fun super spreading ya dumbfuck.  Not God

And F that Irish drunk sap Van Morrison too.

Eric Clapton Says COVID-19 Theories Are Losing Him Friends
https://www.vulture.com/2021/06/eric-clapton-says-covid-19-theories-are-...

“Do we have any foreigners in the audience tonight? If so, please put up your hands … So where are you? Well wherever you all are, I think you should all just leave. Not just leave the hall, leave our country … I don’t want you here, in the room or in my country. Listen to me, man! I think we should send them all back. Stop Britain from becoming a black colony. Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get the coons out. Keep Britain white … The black wogs and coons and Arabs and fucking Jamaicans don’t belong here, we don’t want them here. This is England, this is a white country, we don’t want any black wogs and coons living here. We need to make clear to them they are not welcome.

England is for white people, man … This is Great Britain, a white country, what is happening to us, for fuck’s sake?

… Throw the wogs out!

Keep Britain white!”

maybe he should play 13th century flugel horn music instead of butchering the blues?

> Not God

lol. You sound a little butthurt, Ras. Need some salve?

When they show you who they are believe them.

Hasn't he always been a prissy little fucker? Always played the 'woe is me' card? Nothing/no one is ever exactly right?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, his just happens to be an entitled, rich old man's opinion.

Timpane would have a field day with that guy.

Clapton has been inconsequential since 1974. Who gives a fuck?

oh no, did ras "cancel" ec?

Did he cancel them so much as knock them off the pedestals he had put them on?

You people clearly don't understand how painful it was for Clapton to be with the former wife of a Beatle. It was a pain beyond what any of us could know.

Sure, let's cancel the guy because of some stupid shit he said 45 years ago when he was all strung out on booze and blow.   Bunch of glass house dwellers here.

I don't care about his stupid views on COVID. The fucking guy hasn't done anything notable in 40 years. He canceled himself.

He started the Crossroads Recovery center.

He's had some musical moments since 1982:  The Cream Reunion, The Derek & The Dominos revisited tour with Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall II.   His work on the soundtrack to Rush was solid.  At least he didn't die at age 52 from clogged arteries because he was a backsliding junkie with a shitty diet and an aversion to exercise.

> The Derek & The Dominos revisited tour with Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhall

I've only seen video, but what I saw was some straight up fire.

Southern States get all the shows.

John Candy was 43.

Elvis was 42.

The Big Boss Man was 41.

John Lennon was 40.

His sister was his mother...

Meh

Clapton is talented, for sure, but his music bores me... and he seems like an ass.

I thought he had hearing issues and was "retired".

jerry and eric.jpg

Jerry sure got fucked up a lot.

How does the zone think the 52 year old backsliding junkie was able to keep his substance abuse separate from his racist tirades for all those years?

Is it because he was a musical genius?

>>>but his music bores me

Derek and the Dominoes? 461 Ocean Blvd.? Yikes.

^^^ Lotta dental work around the corner in that shot.

It was all downhill from Cream.    Most overrated guitar player ever.

^I like Cream, but Clapton isn't the reason.

>Derek and the Dominoes? 461 Ocean Blvd.? <

Snooze fest

His Les Paul into the Marshall changed rock guitar tones.  Fresh Cream strictly from the guitar tone POV was pivotal.

I was happy to catch one night of Cream reunion at MSG but honestly most of my attention was given to Bruce and Baker.  lawd.

Given what is at stake I cannot overlook Clapton's bullshit.

Fuck Him. No big deal. You cant say or do stupid shit without consequence.

The black wogs and coons and Arabs and fucking Jamaicans don’t belong here, we don’t want them here. This is England, this is a white country, we don’t want any black wogs and coons living here. We need to make clear to them they are not welcome.

Now, here's "I Shot the Sheriff"...

Ol' Clapton would probably be given more leeway for his idiocrasy if he had been putting out better music.

Saw him in '17 and he absolutely crushed it.  His playing was sublime.

I'll admit to being distracted by Bramhall, tho'.  I was constantly doing upside-down guitar math in my head while watching him.

Killer guitar night.  Clapton, Bramhall, G. Clarke, Jr., his 2nd guitar player (his name escapes me a the moment.  I called him Poncho Guy at the time.  One of the more interesting supporting guitarists I've seen in years.), and Jimmy Vaughn.

Glad it was free, tho'.

Also, there was a prior article about Clapton having some neuro/nerve thing that was affecting his playing.  No evidence of it to my ears or big-screen eyes.  But it seems convenient he doesn't mention it while complaining about alleged vax side FX.

As a younger man consuming my fair share of LSD, I considered this song as some of the best rock guitar work ever recorded:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFoheneUfU0

That is and always will be a beautiful song, Earl.

Good song

I completely loved Disraeli gears

Played it every day at lunchtime in the library at Paly high school

Super overrated player in the big picture and he was completely right when he said Jerry Miller and Jimi Hendrix were so much better than he

Along with a couple hundred guitar players at this point

Son dying falling from hotel window????

Or am I making that up

Close - If I recall, it was his house-keeper whom left an open window unattended and his toddler son tragically fell to his death.

^ Yep, Conor  (Rip)

Got his buddy George Harrison to give up Layla Patty, and while he was with her he fucked around with another woman and had a son, Conor. Sad story all the way around. EC may be a D-bag for numerous reasons,, I'm just pissed he's not playing north of the mason/dixon line,, if so I'd be going.

Others play faster, but Clapton plays with Pure Blues Finesse  -- they dont call him Slowhand fer nuthin'. The guys onstage, not to mention Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray + Jimmie Vaughan and Jimi knew,, they all love him.

Fuck him

I wouldn't pay that if Jerry himself climbed out of the grave

I'd pay $1600 to see a pre-1980 Jerry resurrected.

Incredibly talented musician, but words carry weight, no matter who you are

^^And what Tim said

^And what mike said, but for that price I'd be expecting some Owsley product as well.

^And Jerry would never charge that!

Eric Clapton refuses to play venues that require proof of vaccination

Clapton says he won’t perform for a ‘discriminated audience’ after vaccination passports made mandatory for clubs and venues this autumn

Lay Down Sally is one of my favorite Clapton songs. Great groove. Jerry must have thought the same. Love hearing Jerry's version of it.

Bryen never saw Jerry play LDS

Clapton is claiming that 40% of the COVID hospital admissions in the U.K. are from people who were vaccinated.  If that's correct, then he has a legitimate point.  Sounds like they have a bunk vaccine in the U.K.   Glad I got the Pfizer.

Clapton is claiming <<

LOL

Not just Clapton.  This is what Reuters said five days ago:

https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/60-people-be...

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Reuters: Britain's Chief Scientific Adviser Patrick Vallance said that 60% of people being admitted to hospital with COVID-19 are unvaccinated, correcting an earlier statement he made on Monday.

"Correcting a statistic I gave at the press conference," Vallance said on Twitter. "About 60% of hospitalisations from COVID are not from double vaccinated people, rather 60% of hospitalisations from COVID are currently from unvaccinated people."

Do the math Judit.  If 60% are unvaccinated, 40% are vaccinated.  Here in the U.S., practically no vaccinated patients are being hospitalized for COVID.  The U.K. appears to have a problematic vaccine.

Bunk vaccine.  Hope its not true for those folks in the UK.

Not so fast. Just stating that  60 percent of hospitalizations are unvaccinated people who are sick  with Covid   could just mean 40 percent of hospitalizations are due to something else, unrelated to Covid end vaccination status.

might just be poor reporting that requires clarification..again

Queen’s Brian May Calls Anti-Vaxxers, Including Eric Clapton, ‘Fruitcakes’

"I love Eric Clapton, he’s my hero, but he has very different views from me in many ways,” May said in an interview with The Independent. “He’s a person who thinks it’s OK to shoot animals for fun, so we have our disagreements, but I would never stop respecting the man.”

May addressed anti-vaxxers in general, arguing that any drug or vaccine is going to have side effects.

“Anti-vax people, I’m sorry, I think they’re fruitcakes,” he said. “There’s plenty of evidence to show that vaccination helps. On the whole they’ve been very safe. There’s always going to be some side effect in any drug you take, but to go around saying vaccines are a plot to kill you, I’m sorry, that goes in the fruitcake jar for me.”

Cray and Clapton should swap last names

Having someone close to you die is not an excuse for being a racist POS, nor does it give one a free pass to spread/promote dangerous misinformation.

He's still profiting over the death of his child. That's gotta mess with  my head.

What a conundrum, I tried to take a stand and toss my Clapton collection but I just couldn't do it. I ended up putting on my 11/26/2006 Sapporo Dome with Derek + Doyle - Phenomenal Stuff, anybody want a copy let me know.

And the only thing that would keep me from seeing him again is the ticket prices. I still love the man, screwloose as he may be. Call me weak, but I just can't unfriend everyone that don't think like me. If so I'd have to shitcan the ABB for going ahead with their 50th at MSG as they knew the virus was here.

Or should we be thanking him for doing his part to cull the heard ?

With a decent EQ, well worth a listen. Brother Duane only played live with the Dominos twice, this show and the next night in Syracuse. Have You Ever Loved A Woman is a hell of a thing.

Cream was one of the hardest rocking groups ever with great songs.

I have never been a big fan of Clapton's other work. I don't hear a lot of soul coming through, regardless of his expert playing.

Wondered what was up when I saw Don Winslow tweet this morning "Eric Clapton could you stop being a dick for 10 minutes."

Google reveals Clapton just won a lawsuit against a German woman for trying to sell a bootleg cd on EBay for 10 bucks.

The CD was purchased by her husband at a retail store in 1987.

She has to pay court costs of a couple of thousand dollars.

Eric is certainly taking Bitter Old Man to a new level.

Not sure I'm believing that story.

But if so, wow talk about inept, German defense lawyers must really suck cesspool scum.

I could have argued that case and not only got it dismissed but forced Clapton to pay her and court costs. There's literally hundreds of sites that sell ec boots. I know a bunch peddling just his s/b's.

Does sound like an Onion story but even The Guardian is carrying the story now.

Great scam if not true.

Was going to paste the link to the Guardian story, but can't do it.  Does the zone not allow copy and pasting links?  That would be weird. I could paste the link on other pages, but the zone won't take it. What is up with that?

>>>I have never been a big fan of Clapton's other work

Generally agree with that statement, but that live Delaney and Bonnie album with EC is pretty kicking.   Been downhill musically for the dude ever since.

gunkman, you can copy and paste on the zone, but it's can be a little tricky depending on the device you're using. It's easiest on a desktop or laptop; just use Control V or Command V in the text editor, and you're good to go.

On my (Android) phone, it's kind of a pain in the ass. I have to long press in the text editor, which pops up a one item menu with Paste on it. Click Paste, and a dialog box will open; you can Control/Command V into that box, then click OK.

Clapton's days of sounding like he did in Cream, the Psychedelic Blues Shaman, were ovah when they broke up. A special space in time, like The Experience. And as great as Blind Faith was, after Cream it was like somebody let the air out of Eric. Cream was a supernova. The only thing that remained was his brilliance in playing the blues,, no longer the hypnotic psychedelic, just pure,, pure american south side of chicago blues. Very few can touch him, his feel and his tone. I've seen him from the 70's till maybe 10 years ago. He's been a brilliant player forever.

Derek & the Dominos Live at Fillmore East 1970 is easily the pinnacle of his strat playing. Still full of fire, like Cream, but the band is more grounded r&b (he stole the bassist & drummer from Delaney & Bonnie, and also Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs band).

He plays more solos in this one tune, than in a whole tour, nowadays.

Also Bobby Whitlock -piano, organ, vocals who has one of the best rock n roll biographies out there if you can find it.

Covers the Delaney and Bonnie, Dominoes and All Things Must Past Era. The Harrison Estate made him (asked him ? ) to take down a recent youtube video

where he called the 50th Anniversary remaster of All Things Must Pass "horrible" . He was never consulted on who played on what tracks which he says they also got all wrong.

Has a nice version of Silent Night  on youtube now.
