Friday Freebie

Forums:

I haven't done one of these in a while. If you'd like my copy of Dave's Picks 43, pick a number between 1 and 100. The zoner who picks the number closest to the number I've chosen, without going over my number, will be the winner. This opportunity will last until 6:00 PM PST on Sunday, August 28th.

Dave's Picks 43 contains two shows. One is from the Family Dog in SF on 11/2/69, and the other is from McFarlin Auditorium in Dallas on 12/26/69.

23. Thanks.

Am I allowed to play or are you going to send me the number you've chosen for verification?

You're good, judit. I don't think we need to do that at this point. I've got my number scribbled down on a post-it.

^ just one ? If you're half the zoner you claim to be you need at least a dozen put all over the gd place.

Twenty bucks says you lose that one.

You're on, Ras. I just took a pic of the post-it with the number and used your date-stamped post as the background.

Like taking candy from a baby.

Not to worry, Ras; I'm not going to take your money. I'd rather have it hanging over your head ;-)

KeseyB (neo-luddite) picked 77, which is closest to the number I chose, 86, without going over it. Congrats. My email is in my profile. Shoot me an email with your mailing address, and I'll get this out to you.

Thanks for playing, everyone.

Shine a little light, share a few laughs - that's pretty much it. My life in a nutshell.

If you look at it right

So who's the big winner ? 7 come 11 ?  Where's the party ??

We all are when we look at it right.

You mentioned recently that you used to work for Aetna, iirc. The one on Farmington Avenue in Hartford?

Started there in the Bond Claims dept before squirreling my way into the data center, eventually working in their brand new (in 1981) Middletown Ct data center.Aetna payed 100% of your medical insu back then, and matched you dollar for dollar (up to 5%) on your 401.

Man shit has changed and not for the better.

No doubt about the change.

I worked in the Little Aetna building right across from Bushnell Park in the mid-80s. Cigna owned the building by then, and I was working on 401(k) plans back when those were brand new. Middletown's closer to where I grew up in Wallingford though.

Small world, we probably crossed paths many many times.

Dillon Stadium, Colt Park, Hartford CC, Springfield CC, Foxboro, Buffalo,  New Haven Coliseum, Toads.

Lucky for you we never officially met up, but if we ever do the 1st ones on me.

awwws i went to a rally in bushnell park against some kinda tax with my uncle Dick (RIP) in the early 90s

you local boys (:

omg mike did i ever ask you if you were a lyman haller ????????????????????????????????

and, fwiw, first place me and that ss bob guy lived was in east berlin !

Yes, Jill, I was a Trojan.

Woo-Hoo!  I am Happy to be a winner...or at least, close enough!

I sent an email, Mike.

And, I guessed 77 when I saw China-rider's guess of 69...remember that silly high school joke, that it's 8 after 69?

I'm hoping my sense of humor has matured a bit since then, but sometimes I'm not certain.  Just the other day, I made my first on-the-spot Garcia joke.

I was staying at a campground, and the cool host said, "well, you may like the Dead, and I may like heavy metal, but we'll get along."  Had he not continued talking, (he does get lonely, I could tell), I would've said, "Oh, sure, but have you heard Jerry's version of Back in Black?"  He'd say "No", and I'd say, "Neither have I"..while smiling and nodding.  It often confuses people.

Anyway, thanks!
