Free Grateful Dead Cassette Tapes

Forums:

Hello Fellow Zoners,

I have 119 cassette tapes of Grateful Dead shows from 1969 - 1995, which philzoner mjtorte passed on to me a few years ago.  I'm trying to reduce clutter and am hoping to pass them on to someone who is interested (as MJ requested I do).

I would love to be able to give them to a Zoner in the Bay Area to avoid postage fees, but am willing to consider paying for them to be mailed to an interested party.

Feel free to email me if you'd like 'em.

Thanks,

Johnny D

PS: Doesn't have to be a Zoner, if you know anyone else who may want them.    smiley

Super generous offer, Johnny D. I know someone who would be vey interested in that, but I insist you have the recipients or their representative (i.e., me in this instance) pay shipping, and also I recommend nailing via USPS Media mail, easily the best and most economical choice for sound recordings of any type.

I'll check back in with you. Do we have one another's email?

Hey ateix,

My email is in my profile.

Hope you are enjoying life and...of course...good music.

Right now I'm listening to the "Finding Forrester" soundtrack, in another effort to reduce my cd clutter - lots of Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, and Bill Frisell.  A nice mix, so I think I'll hold onto this disc for awhile longer (at least for as long as I have a cd player at work and in the car).

Best,

John

PS: Thanks for the postage advice.

"Hello Fellow Zoners,  I have 11,900  cassette tapes of Grateful Dead shows from 1969 - 1995.  I'm trying to reduce clutter and am hoping to pass them on to someone who is interested"

^Dayum!!!

You think I'm bullshitting?  I'll post a pix of my basement . . . :)

No spot taken and very generous of both parties involved.

ill take high grade jgb ones...

I'll  take some of those cassettes.

im slowly amassing a collection at my cabin in Hawaii.

by '68 vw that I keep over there only has a cassette deck.

blows the millennials minds when I pick them up hitchhiking. "Are these 8 tracks??"

12-30-1986?

I already purged much of my "Bloated Persian Jerry In Red" era stuff long ago, but may have 12/30/86, I remember there being pretty good sbd/aud matrix-es of that run, will check & post later . . .

I do have a lot of JGB, some aud masters, in fact a few of my DAT era masters made it into those JGB tour compilations as being "best available" (Providence 91 & 93 amongst them).

"Things Millionaires Say"

I have an old wooden library card catalog filled with my old cassettes.  Perfect storage medium for them.

Using the dewey "decibel" system, eh?

I'd take any Garcia Grisman shows.

That would be the  Doobie Decimal system in this case.

I have a vehicle that only plays cassettes and my collection is getting tired.  If you have a few (or a dozen) spares, I can give them a good home! I'd be happy to pay some shipping, i can paypal/venmo or whatever.

Zoner Silent Mark gave me a Gazillion tapes when he moved to a new home.  All nicely labeled on XLII or XLII-S mainly.

Then I spent months looking for a functional tape deck on Wheels.

'97 Subaru had working tape deck so that's why I got it. first thing I went for was some of the JGB stash.

take a pic thom, that would be cool. those things are heavy as hell.

I have 11,900  cassette tapes of Grateful Dead shows  <<<<

WHO The FUCK Cares CLOWN !

Are YOU SURE It Isn't 11,901 ?

GO CHECK NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^How many cd's do you have?

Sorry, Slacker.  No 12-30-86, but I do have 12-28 (partial) and 12/31.

Which reminds me: Canyon and I split the loot.  Maybe he has that date.  Or perhaps he'd like what I have.

Hey Jackohearts: Any dates or years you may be interested in?  LMK

Nice offer. No spot takenp

I'll take those 2 '87 Frost tapes.

thanks

You're a good man, JohnnyD

My most treasured zoner music is from the super cool guy who has now passed /:

Was just touting my bongwater disc from him this past Sunday!

Sigh. Someone will remember *his name, i hope.  He shared really random strange music, i believe was a luthier, and had a musically talented daughter.

I miss him

):

Wow plf someone piss in your cornflakes?

Speaking of cassette tapes, Charlie Miller has been releasing some new sources of some shows from 1989.  This one is called an Ultramatrix SBD Cassette Master--it was done by UltraSound, the sound company that worked for the GD.
