Fox Going All In

Forums:

I thought they might course correct, but no they are going to go all in on crazy.

In the meantime, Maria Bartiromo, a person who flooded the airwaves with a firehose of falsehoods, gets a shot at prime time....

... while Fox News political editor Chris Stirewalt was laid off today alongside just under 20 Fox News staffers. Stirewalt sat on the Fox News decision desk, which has come under fire for its early call on Arizona election night. Story forthcoming...

Fox has been "all in" since right about the time Obama announced he was running for president...

on the news feed this morning:

SPOTTED: GEORGE W. BUSH and TUCKER CARLSON having dinner at the private home of a neighbor on the exclusive Gasparilla Island, Fla., where they both have homes.

So when I read this I thought, hey, maybe the old guard is turning Fox into a more traditional Republican mouthpiece now that Trump is gone.

I guess not.

CNN is all in on fluffing Democrats.

The only time I turn on either of those shitshows is when there's big news happening, in real time. Interestingly, from my very, very limited snapshot, Fox does a better job of "on the spot" reporting. Once the news is done they revert back to douchebaggery.

I could have posted the same thing as BrianK.

It was interesting how both on the night the George Floyd footage came out and last week on the 6th during & immediately after the attack on the Capitol, Fox did very good straight-up reporting, even with some of their talking heads blaming their orange hero. It was again interesting to see how long it would take them to begin turning the narrative into an anti-left, "THE LEFT is to blame for this" monologue. Both events took about a day.

I sometimes play a little game and turn on Fox to see how many seconds it takes to hear attacks on the left. It's almost always immediate, and never more than a minute or two. Their deal is an endless, 24/7, one-note harangue.

And I agree that CNN is basically the same thing as Fox, they've just had an easier time with better ammo these past 4 years to attack Trump & the right, so they sound more sane/less desperate to promote an agenda, but it's still a drag when just wanting to hear good reporting of facts.

And of course Fox is going to keep on with/turn up their shtick. With the possibility that Trump will look to start up his own "news" channel, they have to keep up or lose their audience.

Because ultimately, for all media outlets, it's always about selling soap.

CNN was failing in the ratings a while back (while fox was king)

They scrapped investigative journalism (outsourced like many a local paper), and switched to talking heads and opinion panels.  Fox was always talking heads/panels, with the typical "it's possible that", or "might have been", and other phrases you put before total BS, but CNN followed suit, and it saved their channel...  as did T...  he single handedly saved CNN

A couple of days ago I heard someone make this observation, and it really hits the nail on the head:

For the last 4 years, the Republican Party has been a one issue party: Trump

For the last 4 years, the Democratic Party has been a one issue party: Trump

For the last 4 years this has been a one issue nation: Trump

there's pbs news hour...

cnn is yes, mainstream (corporate) news. while i agree they suck balls, they are hardly fox. fox has been an unmitigated assault on our democracy and its now decades long constant attack, has led to the modern q-anon and other nut jobs movements. seriously fuck that foreign owned travesty of an american public owned airwave system...

then the bbc...

media is so fucked up in this country that people confuse the washington post with tthe washington times...

we need JERRY!

CNN is not Fox. CNN will fluff mainstream Dems but they don't spew endless lies, and all their talking heads are News not opinion. Fox has an agenda that they present the same way WWF presents their narrative. Good Republicans vs. Evil Democrats. And now they will have less news and more "opinion"

Social media is just an echo chamber without Fox to amplify it on a daily basis.

Not saying that CNN is the same as Fox. My issue is that, in a world of 8 billion people living on 6 continents, neither of them reports the news. What's even more fucked up is that CNN "reports" on what the Fox talking heads say, and Fox "reports" on what the CNN talking heads are saying. In what world is that news?

My new go-to is www.theconversation.com. The articles are all written by true experts in their fields, and authors all have to disclose their affiliations. They don't allow biased language and slants, and it ranks at the top for factual and unbiased reporting.

No one should get there News from CNN, but if they did they would know things like global warming is real and caused by humans, masks and social distancing help slow the spread of Covid, and that there was zero fraud in the 2020 election and that Biden won.

Meanwhile: “in the two weeks after Fox News called the election for Biden, Fox News cast doubt on the results of the election at least 774 times.” According to NPR, Fox Business host Lou Dobbs said Trump’s opponents in the government were guilty of “treason” and that it would be “criminal” for Republicans to recognize Biden’s victory. Fox News host Mark Levin told viewers: “If we don’t fight on Jan. 6 on the floor of the Senate and the House — and that is the joint meeting of Congress on these electors — then we are done.”

Fox is as responsible for the insurrection as Trump is, and CNN has to cover Fox because for the last four years the Trump administration and Fox were indistinguishable.

fox going full national inquirer

that's real news, lol

CNN is almost as bad as Fox in its biased reporting and running opinion pieces as headlines.

>>>>neither of them reports the news. What's even more fucked up is that CNN "reports" on what the Fox talking heads say, and Fox "reports" on what the CNN talking heads are saying. In what world is that news?

Exactly.

I still check out both CNN and Fox everyday just to compare their headlines on the day's news events.  If I am bored, I will also troll the Fox news comments sections.  They are one of the few news outlets that still has a comments section.  For more serious news and analysis, I check out Al-Jazeera and BBC and listen to NPR.   For breaking events, Twitter can't be beat for real time, on the ground coverage and live streams.

Reuters, API, CBS and PBS all seem reliable to me.

I watch BBC News as much as possible

Newsmax seems laid back

C-SPAN is where it's at.  Straight up no chaser.

Everything else is  See-Spam.

i like MSNBC

Anyone know what happened to Trevor Noah?

Thought the Daily Show would be all over the events of the last few weeks.

He was on on Tues - dunno  about last night. He was on "vacation" before that.

BrianK has it right almost. Tarump disavowed FOX long ago as fake news as they weren't kissing his ass as much as he liked. CNN on the other hand never even showed Tarump speeches or rallies. Only the negative shit. Now that's professional unbiased journalism at it's finest. Oy Vey.

Probably the most unbiased, honest news portal I've ever found is www.csmonitor.com.  Actual news.

Don't be fooled or misled by the name of the outfit. It is not at all religious, nor am I.

>>   If I am bored, I will also troll the Fox news comments sections. <<

me too (AugustWest303)

OAN though definitely pro Trump at least shows news that's happening around the globe. Something Fox and CNN don't do very often. I like the hard facts not a bunch of people sitting around a table discussing their opinions. Though sometimes it can get interesting.

Jesus, OAN is considered to be an unreliable news source with an extreme bias, and is bordering on propaganda (that seems to have worked on one particular viewer).

RT has a lot of world news coverage too, but with a blatant pro-Putin, anti-West bias.

I scan through both Al Jazeera and Jerusalem Post. They both do a decent job of international news reporting. When reading anything about the Israel/Palestine issue, the biased language on both sides is blatant.

OAN wtf....

doolittle....are you a flat-earther Birther?

>>>>I scan through both Al Jazeera and Jerusalem Post. They both do a decent job of international news reporting. When reading anything about the Israel/Palestine issue, the biased language on both sides is blatant.

Agreed.  Don't read J-Post much because there is too much pop up advertising.   For a more balanced Israeli news source, check out Haaretz.

Haaratz is mildly liberal.

I read a lot of news from a variety of sources throughout the day. Al Jazeera, Axios, BBC, Daily Beast, Democracy Now, Mother Jones, New York Times, New Yorker, NPR, Politico, Reuters, and Washington Post are my go-tos.

I don't watch Fox for the obvious reasons, and CNN just rubs me the wrong way, but I do have MSNBC on in the background for a good part of the day. I realize they're biased, but I like some of the news staff and their guests, although I have little tolerance for Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes.

Has anyone checked out Jonathan Swan's series ("Off the Rails") on the downfall of Trump?

https://www.axios.com/off-the-rails-episodes-cf6da824-83ac-45a6-a33c-ed8...

Haaretz is great, but then you don't get to see the ridiculousness of the bias. In and of itself, it's a learning experience.

My mother tells me that CNN, MSNBC and Fox all have some news during the day. It's the late afternoons - nights that they turn into blather-fests.

Most people don't want to see facts, they just want their biases confirmed

I said OAN is pro Trump just like CNN is pro Biden. But OAN has a lot of stories you don't hear about on the other popular networks.

And  Domocracy Now on LinkTV is good but only on an hour.

Dude, OAN isn't merely pro-Trump. A good hunk of it is right-wing conspiracy theory propaganda. You don't hear the stories on other networks because they aren't stories. They are fabrications. Just because they tell you it's real, and then accuse other news sources of covering shit up by not reporting it, doesn't make it true.

You've been bilked by the propaganda.

^Dude, How do you know what I believe and don't believe?? How do you know I was bilked?? Another person with their assumptions  If I'm in the news mode I'll check out CNN, MSNBC, FOX and OAN. If one doesn't catch my interest I'll switch to another and so on. OAN like I said has more Global news than the other ones as far as I've seen! Plus OAN has some pretty chicas.

When you state that they cover "news" that no others do, that's a pretty good sign you've been bilked.

^ They didn't state it I did! Can you understand the difference!! I hope so because this is getting old fast.

OAN does not have "news" just propoganda.

But OAN has a lot of stories you don't hear about on the other popular networks.<<

LOL

No shit.

Bat Boy?

I guess you never watch it no??

Funny how no mention of the Portland and Seattle riots on this site. You must watch Biden propaganda on CNN! LOL

Geez you guys are soooooo biased it's scary!

What are you talking about? There were vibrant threads about those situations.

How about this: show us an OAN news story that no other outlets are covering, so that we can see what you're going on about.

This ought to be good

CNN had story about Portland on its front page today.

Of course, Fox's headline reads "Unrest explodes across West after Biden is sworn in..." when it was 150 people in Portland and 50 in Denver.

Where BrianK?

Lead me too them threads?

And Fishcane, not biting.

CNN has a front page? You must be talking about their website. I never visit TV news websites. I watch it on TV.

Yes on the front page of cnn.com today...above the fold!

Oh, there's new shit in Seattle and Portland? I was talking about last Summer.

What the fuck do threads on a dbmb have to do with the exclusive reporting on OAN? Post one of those articles that only they are covering.

>> I never visit TV news websites. I watch it on TV. <<

Talk about spoonfed!

^You believe everything you read Ned?

And show the links to your statements!!

I'm also interested in these exclusive scoops from OAN!

it's as if G-reg jacked this guy's handlelaugh

>Geez you guys are soooooo biased it's scary!

biased toward facts, Qtard.

@Brian  I don't watch cable news 24/7 and can go for days not interested in what is going on in this crazy world. I could and should and love to live on an island or mountains living off the grid in peace forgetting what shit the people have wrought here.

As far as remembering a specific story I can't recall at the moment. But it has to do with international stories happening in some obscure country that I never saw on the other cable networks. As I stated before I don't watch 24/7 so maybe they could have mentioned it but I doubt it. OAN has more of a BBC international news from what I've seen. Of course a lot of Trump stuff which I said from the beginning!

I'm out for tonight. Keep on insulting me. It doesn't touch me.

>>>   "it has to do with international stories happening in some obscure country that I never saw on the other cable networks"

bryen was a true artiste compared to this crayons on the wall shit.

Run, Doolittle run. Take your crayons and go home.

just watch, the conspiracy nut job will be back...he's so desperate to convince others that he knows the 'truth' . Fuckin Qtards/Incels are so pathetic.

I'm sorry because Nancy is here. One more response tonight maybe? What facts Nancy! Fact, Nothing but the facts maam!

Splain Lucy.

CNN facts?

When one reads CNN.com, they have a choice of whether to read factual news articles or opinion pieces. The latter are prefaced with "Opinion." When one watches, they have no choice in what they are fed.

Here's a well reported article on cnn.com:

McConnell proposes delaying impeachment trial until February so Trump team can prepare
https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/21/politics/nancy-pelosi-impeachment-timing/...

Hell.  There's no rush.  They should wait 100 days. Get some sh*t done and line up 100 ducks, so to speak.

Also, what Trump team?

I get a lot of my news from DW.  American news even the least biased and most factual lack on world news for the most part, IMO.

https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/dw-news/

Here's the media bias report for www.theconversation.com that I mentioned yesterday. It's pretty impressive: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/the-conversation/

And while we're there, let's take a gander at OAN: https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/one-america-news-network/

> Keep on insulting me. It doesn't touch me.

"troll away the dew"

Nice thread. I am surprised no one has mentioned New York Times, one of my go to's. Also, Axios is good and to the point. I was also watching a lot of CSPAN in lead up to election.

Thanks for the tip on The Conversation, never heard of that site before and looks good to bookmark.

foxnews, like today's repub party,,, soon to be extinct

Trump is gone, but Faux News and  70 million supporters aren't going anywhere, unfortunately.

Unless reforms are made to our 1st ammendment, which after the insurrection I believe is now possible.

Then I pray they go after the 2nd, no high powered assault weapons, no magazines over 10 shots,,the public should not have more lethal guns than law enforcement,,,  etc etc

Everything changes, it's our turn to choose truth and sanity

Fox is the big winner here. I'm still waiting for Obama to take my guns as promised

And as far as 70 million, you think that's the number after the attempted gov't take over ?

No fucking way man. Today's shithead numbers be about 45 million. Believe It

I know of half a dozen hardcore red vets, 4 of em my cousins who were more than disgusted and burt their chump shit in a bonfire right down the road from me.

Advertisers and watchers are bailing on fox like Grant took Richmond

When do they move out of Manhattan?

Some will remember the days when tv evangelists were riding high.  Robertson, Falwell, Swaggert , Jim and Tammy.

This recent bullshit just the latest iteration.

The seed was planted when Falwell sold his "Moral Majority" mailing list to the Reagan campaign.

Watch these bastards, like the Rapture fantasy they just move the conspiracy goalposts back when the "predictions " don't materialize

> Unless reforms are made to our 1st ammendment, which after the insurrection I believe is now possible.

Why? What Trump said at the rally before the insurrection, and his subsequent tweets and videos, are not free speech.

Oh yes folks,  chump's core is melting away.

My 4 cousins mentioned above, I will not name by 1st names (to respect privacy, they're still with us), but here's another 1st cousin of  mine who also would NOT be down with any group trying to overthrow our gov't.

There's a certain beauty to reading new rather than watching it. You have choices. You can read biased opinion pieces. You can focus on hard news pieces. You can read stories that have both. You can skip over crap and focus on the "real." You can analyze the bias and language. You have the power.

When you watch "news," on the other hand, you have no choices. Turn on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, OAN, etc and you see the crap they choose to feed you. You either agree with the bias and shit, and it's affirmational, or you disagree, and it's also affirmational. Remember, the vast majority of people yabbering on all those networks are not experts. They are paid to make noise. Even many of the experts are politically motivated and need to be taken with a grain of salt. They are reporting very little news. In fact, their goal is to become the news.

Reading - the lost art...

Reading's not lost on me, but it sure is for a lot of my students.

She's staring at pictures of Hollywood couples
I don't think she owns a hardcover book

~Kenny White~

Read what is the question. There's a hundred different opinions too read. Huffost eg. is totally left biased. Won't read it.  And what makes you believe their telling the truth or are just biased. Much easier and faster to watch tv.

Yeah, it's hard to discern fact from fiction when reading. Between the inferences and veiled biases, it's hard to make heads or tails if it all. It's better and easier to just watch TV.

And as an added bonus, you get to believe that OAN is news.

Fuck me sideways!

R U being sarcastic there.

And besides the Trump bias of OAN they do show global news. Watch it and see. Then tell me i'm full of it.

You're full of it.

No thanks. I'll get my world news from sources that aren't propaganda.

Which is Bri?

BBC, Jerusalem Post, Economist, Al Jazeera, NPR, theconversation.com

That's just to name a few sources that are generally considered to be balanced, factual and reliable. It isn't hard to scan.

But then again, you'd have to read. Stick with OAN.

Jerusalem Post isn't biased??

As I stated somewhere above, it absolutely is on the Israel/Palestine issue. It's far less on global issues. That said, it isn't OAN.

How about you do some research into that shit that you think is real. There are 25 media rating sites that call it crap.

Your getting waaay ahead of yourself. I never said I believe OAN Trump propaganda. Just another news broadcast. Everyone should watch all channels to see what they're preaching. To watch one place and believe it as gospel is ignorant and stupid. And to think OAN is all a lie is ridiculous.    But I'm going to watch TV now so have a nice night! With sincerity!
