Five Protestors Shot in Portland

Forums:

This sucks.   Every week, there is a march in Portland for Patrick Kimmons, a young black man killed by the cops a while back, and other victims of police violence.   This week, the march was also for Amir Locke, who was recently killed in a "no knock" police raid  in Minneapolis.   The Justice for Patrick Kimmons marches are always peaceful until last night when somebody opened fire on the protestors as they were gathering in a park before the march, killing one woman and wounding four others.   The perp was then shot by the protestors' security detail.

We all knew that once they let that little murderous punk ass bitch Kyle Rittenhouse off the hook, it would be open season on protestors in America.  And here we are.

I sometimes go to these events, but had other things going on last night so wasn't there.  Vibes to all the victims.  One way or another, this darkness has to give.

Yes, that is terrible and your details were much more clear than those I have been reading about too. I'll say it again, "I hate where we are as a country."

Here is the Reuters version so far....

"Portland police: clash between armed homeowner and protesters sparked shooting"

People who shoot people... so horribly wrong. Thanks for starting the thread, Ken.

Awful

Tomorrow's headline

Trigger happy homeowner's house burnt to a crisp while he lay in hospital.

Big thanks Ken... going to acknowledge this to my team on Tuesday, who are all people of color.

Harder rain will fall.

Details are finally coming out and they are disturbing.

As the protest march was just about to get going, an area resident confronted four unarmed women working traffic control.  The guy called the women "terrorist c***s" and when they told him to get lost, he pulled out a gun and shot them.

Ken, please let me know which nights you might be marching... would like to go along.

Alleged killer in Normandale Park protest shooting identified as Benjamin Smith

She said Smith slowly became more radicalized starting in the later years of the Obama administration and accelerating during the Trump administration. At times, she heard him yelling racial slurs in his room and deriding women.

“As the years went on, he’s just gotten more and more radicalized. He got angrier and angrier,” Christenson told OPB. “I have not been comfortable living with him for a while. I did not feel safe with him, especially this last two years with the whole COVID thing. I think that made him even more angry.”

Demonstrators said on Saturday night the shooting happened after Smith allegedly started yelling at a group of racial justice protesters holding a “justice for Amir Locke” demonstration at Normandale Park...Witnesses to the Saturday shooting said people attempted to deescalate the situation when Smith pulled out a handgun and fired into the crowd, killing June Knightly, 60, and injuring four others. Witnesses said a protester returned fire, hitting Smith, who is in critical condition according to the Oregonian/OregonLive.

The creep certainly checked all the boxes as a MAGA terrorist, but he was also a "Fury,"   Seriously.   But apparently he was considered a "Nazi Fury" in the Fury community because of his outspoken racist and extreme right wing views.   I had no idea right wingers were into that stuff.

Llollo, I imagine there will be a vigil and March on Saturday.   I will let you know when there are more details.
