There's not much room for raw idealism in global geopolitics. Very often, a world leader needs to do what they have to do.

So what exactly was Biden supposed to do? Russia invaded Ukraine and Biden is trying to get the world to stop buying their oil which is 20% of the worlds production. The only way to do that is to get the Saudi's to increase production. (BTW Trump got the Saudi's to decrease production to raise the price of oil so that fracking in the US was profitable)

Of course the Saudi's are going to make Biden jump through hoops but unless you want to pay $8 a gallon then that is what has to happen.

If the goal is to maintain our reckless consumption of petroleum, Biden had no choice but to make nice with the man he not too long ago labeled a pariah.

However, if Biden decided to embrace the idea that he's a wartime president, and that we're in a war for the health of the planet, he would encourage people to make lifestyle sacrifices (I know, "sacrifice" is a dirty word, but there it is, and as a reminder, it's the chief defining characteristic of a hero), and he wouldn't need to cozy up to the bad guys. Completely agree except for the fact that our government is made up of three equal branches and Biden doesn't get to do much of anything. Under its Dem trifecta in CA Ds required every new home in CA be built with solar panels starting in 2020. That's what's possible if we wipe out the GOP in 2022 & 2024 & give Ds more power. But most liberals vote once every four years for President and then stomp their feet when they don't get their wish list. It's not Manchin that is holding stuff up it is Manchin and 50 Republicans.

When it comes to federal elections, I really think that we need to change our thinking altogether. The whole "lesser of two evils" thing is a real sticking point, and nothing good comes from it.

The reality is, on the federal level we have a 2 party system, and that isn't going to change any time soon. As such, vote for the people who best represent you, with the understanding that they will rarely be perfect.

People on the left are especially caught up on the "evil" part. It's too me for a reset of thought. For instance, Biden isn't evil. Although not a perfect candidate, for many reasons, he best represented my views and ideals. It's that simple.

Lesser of two evils is still evil is a nice slogan, and you got to live that slogan without any consequences. If you are a women you have already learned and for the rest of us we are about to learn that they may both be evil but one evil slaps you upside the head, kicks you in the balls, and throws you in jail all while bombing people 3000 miles away, and the other evil just bombs people 3000 miles away.

This doesn't tell us we shouldn't vote. Instead, it tells us to be aware there's evil on both sides, and that one side is more evil than the other.

This is a nice way to fight back and reclaim some justice in the world....or at least in one's own 'hood but it's a great start.
