Just gotta give a shout out
Sorry, but just gotta give a shout out to William Edward Compton, the person the venue is named after. A hero of mine.
A GREAT man, who was the PD at KDKB in Phoenix in the 70's when it was a progressive station and turned so many people on to so much great music. His effect is immeasurable.
The great concerts at Doug Clark's Celebrity Theatre happened because of KDKB, and we had a ton of great ones. And he had great DJ's at his station.
Unfortunately, KDKB was sold and turned commercial.
One night in June of 1977, Bill was driving along a road and swerved to miss a bicyclist, and crashed into an empty concrete Central Arizona Project canal.
But his spirit lives on in a lot of us.

As for that show I may have been there. I was between everything in life, traveling around and popping back to Arizona here and there, and I did go to a Compton Terrace show and I think that was it.

Drove straight to Phoenix
Drove straight to Phoenix from the Northeast in a Ford Granada.
Garcia & Weir switched verses on Rider, liked the cowboy tune mix up, Mexicali>El Paso. Great SBD transfer.
