I think it'll be interesting to see what might happen with the social order of things if we ever figure out a way to effectively communicate with other species.
Of course, the KJV is a translation of more ancient texts, but the word "dominion" ("the power or right of governing and controlling; sovereign authority") clearly demonstrates that Christian authorities during the late Renaissance thought we should see ourselves as demigods where other species were concerned. And I have to believe that that kind of thinking would extend to extraterrestrial lifeforms too.
