Favorite Summertime Places

Forums:

I had to drive up to Reno a couple of weeks ago to help a friend retrieve a vehicle, and went by way of the 395 through the eastern Sierra, which is one of my all-time favorite drives on the planet. On the drive north, my friend and I made a late-afternoon detour through the June Lake Loop and stopped by Rush Creek just north of Grant Lake for a little 4:20 celebration. The day had been a hot one, the temperature had gotten up to 115 at one point on the drive, but hanging out in the shade of the aspens by the creek at an elevation of about 7600', the conditions couldn't have been any nicer. The spot we visited is one I've fished many times before, and I would call it one of my favorite summertime places.

I was thinking about that trip today and remembering some of my other favorite summertime places, and thought that idea might make for a good thread. Since we (mostly) can't visit those places this summer because of the pandemic, that doesn't mean we can't remember them and share them here.

Hell yes June Lake

Fantastic memories From my younger days

Rode our bikes from Palo alto up there and stashing our bikes up into a tree and then going back packing

An unforgettable moment when you sleep in the campground exhausted the night before leaving.  We were so tired We put our  backpacks between two of our sleeping bags

I woke up kind of early and saw a mother bear and three cubs hanging out 20 yards away

I fell back asleep and awoke when the mom was sniffing and nosing my chest

Two minutes of not breathing not moving felt like an eternity

goddamn fun trips bike rides to the sierras

Well I am often an idiot

on month earlier lol.  I meant may lake, but  June lake is awesome too
