cool! the first leave me out of this – did you attend, og?

switched up for a newark show, eh? :)

2002 was great, but by 2005 sless seems to have found his plf groove.

December 2004 P&F at the Warfield. 3 nights of super music...

Bigger fan of 01' Q,but couldn't find a link for the Berkeley shows. Those were the cream of the crop.

Also I still consider DNB w/Phil at the Crossroads 12.15.12 to be the best concert I have yet to attend...

my other half and i attended those 2004 warfield shows, damn, should've listed that. you got a favorite from that run, canyon?

Don't really have  a fave, all 3 nights were spectacular and really hold up on the recordings...

12-13-05 second night Atlanta Fox Dark Star night .

New Year's 08 band

Lesh, Sless, Molo, Greene, Molitz

I also really liked the Louisville Palace Theatre summer 06

Yeah that short but sweet NYE '08 set is a true thing of beauty... btw I threw on 12.18.04 I forgot they were free DSBDs courtesy of Phil...so fuckin' good!!!

were those 12/04 shows the ones with the big band? jackie and gloria and the rre guys?

Yes it was Fish...and don't forget Dylan in the balcony:)...really besides the incredible music this run produced , my favorite part was not knowing who was going to be in the band before the shows. The anticipation  and surprise were tons of fun, really wish Phil would do more  runs like that. I miss the mystery ...

Chicago 7/16/2006

Trey was not on this portion of the tour so Sless got to take some leads

Blue Sky:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYpQnX9SR-E

Somehow had front row seats to the show

Thank you folks. I don't know too much about Sless other than he plays very well with Phil and I love it. I think I saw him with Phil two times, maybe three

I would love to see him with Phil again

july 16th, 2006 show is damn fine show, but it's not on the llama or etree!

anyone got a link to the entire show?

i saw the Newark show (s) (???) - it all rolls into one....seems like all this life was just a dream....

Good stuff and beautiful venue - location, meh....

Bimbo's!

>>>>>>>> Also I still consider DNB w/Phil at the Crossroads 12.15.12 to be the best concert I have yet to attend...

Nice!!!

Barry's played a fair number of shows at TXR this year and they all were Grate, IMHO.

I think that it was the Valentines Day show (with Stanley Jordan, Molo, etc) that Sless himself started taking over the shred factor.  Inclusion of the kids (and some strange song selections) took the whole show down a notch from what it could've acheived.  I think that "Feeling Alright" was a highlight, as well as "Caution".   I may need to give that one a listen again...

Of the shows I attended this year 10/29 stands out...the Saturday scorcher!

Great one weekend band....

Set 1: Jam> Here Comes Sunshine> Mr. Charlie , Stagger Lee> Friend of the Devil> Big Boss Man , No More Do I> Jam> Duprees Diamond Blues, Dancin In The Streets
Set 2: ~Across The Universe , Eyes Of The World> ~Love The One You're With , Millenium Jam> The Eleven , ~@A Song I Heard The Ocean Sing> Man of Constant Sorrow, Sugaree , Cryptical Envelopment> Morning Dew> The Other One> Cryptical Envelopment> I Know You Rider
E: Donor Rap, HBD Warfield , St. Stephen>~Hit The Road Jack> Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad , Band Intros
~1st time played

Band: Phil Lesh, John Molo, Barry Sless - guitar, pedal steel, Al Schnier on guitar, @acoustic (.moe), Mookie Siegel on keys (DNB), Gloria Jones & Jackie LaBranch - vocals (JGB)

Four come to mind:

Atlantic City 12/10/05

Tower Theater 2/26/06

Capital Theater 3/19/15

Capital Theater 11/7/15

I'd have a hard time picking my favorite out of these, but probably go with 2/26/06:

Set 1: Jam> Unbroken Chain> Jam> Let It Grow, Fennario (Peggy-O), Birdsong> Jam> Magnolia Mountain, Reuben & Cerise

Set 2: Gimme Shelter> Jam> Cryptical Envelopment> Jam> St. Stephen> Millenium Jam> The Eleven> Jam> Turn Around> Jam> The Other One> Dark Star> Uncle John's Band, Not Fade Away

E:  Franklin's Tower

Band: Phil Lesh, Joan Osborne (vocals), Larry Campbell (guitar+more), Rob Barraco (keys), Barry Sless (guitar, pedal steel), Jeff Sipe (drums)

That is a killer setlist, bookmarked in in Archivist and will listen ASAP.

I don't remember the date but the only one I attended was at Meriweather with ABB.

Larry C. and Jackie G., Molo, Particle guy on keys, Sless stuck to steel and frankly was low in the mix.

I would like to hear a Sless set where the pedal steel is given the night off and he turns up that guitar.

I agree with Hall that the Bimbo's show was excellent, but while many may disagree this one is easy for me...

12/29/05 Fillmore Auditorium SF, w/ Ryan Adams, Larry Campbell, Rob Barraco, John Molo & Joan Osborne.

Many zoners claim this as the worst Phil show they ever saw.

Not me.

It was loose, funky, dirty & down, it was heavy, it was REAL.

That was the first time I'd seen Ryan, and this show is right at the top of my favorite P&F shows I ever saw.

https://archive.org/details/phil2005-12-29.flac16

Another honorable mention for a Sless show with Phil is 07/02/99 at the Warfield with David Nelson, Mookie, Kimock & Bill Kreutzmann.

That was the first time I'd ever seen Sless. I had no idea who he was, and especially early on I was pretty focused on Billy & Phil playing together again, but by the end of the show I definitely noticed Sless. It's another real good one.

Your description of 12/29/05, "It was loose, funky, dirty & down, it was heavy, it was REAL" sounds like something I'd really like. Another show to listen to. Thanks for the link.

The China Doll from 7/2/99 is Off The Hook !!

Bimbo`s loser.jpg

Out of the shows I've seen with Sless 11/7/15 & 10/29/16 especially 3-18-15 have been my favorites. I really like the 12/14-15/14 shows at TXR with Nelson, S.Law, Molo & Chimenti. https://soundcloud.com/quinfolk/sets/phil-lesh-friends-terrapin-crossroa...

The 05' shows I've heard, which are pretty few, Sless has been underutilized, sq hasn't been great on the recordings, & I'm not a huge C.Robinson fan. The 10-30-05 show I've heard with him & Herring seemed good but the recording wasn't all that good.

>>> 12/29/05 Fillmore Auditorium SF, w/ Ryan Adams, Larry Campbell,

Sless was on pedal steel all night... and I actually did like that show, but I liked the following night more (when Ryan called in sick and Barry and Larry raged).  NYE (with Ryan back) was a complete mess, though.

shadow of the moon tour has some

wicked sless jams that just go on and on.

yes, CR does suck, haha, but the jamz. them serious.

"I don't remember the date but the only one I attended was at Meriweather with ABB."

I was there as well Les. One set each,  Phil opened.  The Allman's blew Phil off the stage that night.

"shadow of the moon tour has some"

Just about my favorite non-Q Phil tour.  Great time.  In addition to the AC show I mentioned above, the tour opener in Reading on 11/21/05 and the Fairfax VA show on 12/2/05 well both stellar.  Chris Robinson brought some great songs to that tour, and the re emergence of Big Brown was a mindblower. I remember having my whole body vibrate during the feedback-> Caution in VA, huge thumps on my chest.  It was magnificent.

Vegoose late night was the only time in my show going where I ended up front row and was right in front of Barry for five hours. Watching him that night was just amazing and when the setlist for the third set got added to his pedal steel I was in disbelief. Thought we were at the encore section of the evening and to see that long list of songs was nuts. Also, was really weird to be that close and able to see the setlist the whole show. Not sure what others would do but at first tried not to look but then couldn't help myself. After the show I was lucky enough to get the third set setlist from security and for years had it framed but somehow I lost it.

On a different note, Joan Osborne was phenomenal with Phil that evening. What a great show!

^^^ was at that Vegoose late night... phenomenal!

Thanks Chinarider for that 1999 link... pure gold!
