I'll throw in my annual nomination for "Christmas In The Trenches" from John McCutcheon.

This version is a live one with a story from John to start. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9coPzDx6tA

I honestly believe this is one of the greatest songs ever written, Christmas or otherwise. And amazingly, it's a true story. There's a few different versions on the Tube.

John Zorn's "A Dreamer's Christmas" featuring John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Jamie Saft, Kenny Wollesen, Trevor Dunn, Joey Baron, Cyro Baptista, and Mike Patton

Look it up yourselves, you punk ass white boys.

Not much interested in "the King is born" type lyrics, but a bunch of the trad. carols have great melodies and tonal structure. I'm partial to God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Joy to the World.

If I was back home I would have listened to George Harrison.

But he's still in my heart & thoughts..

I hitchhiked across the continent during some forbidding winter weather to see this one  :)                      *

Are you people daft?

There's some Elvis stuff, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and other classics that are really good, but common',

But if you really want to get the Christmas party going, all you need is "Blowlfy Does Xxx-mas."   The original nasty rapper busts out all the holiday classics such as The Twelve Lays of Christmas, Santa Claus is Cuming, Dick the Hoes, Jingle Bell Cock, and Twats the Night before Xxx-mas.

Blowfly Christams.jpg

^^ Pretty much all of the above ^^ Fuck Off Ken

This one's always a classic, but I think I love this version best. Bing singing with a children's choir from the movie Going My Way, which is well worth watching this time of year. Bing is also joined on this song by one of the most incredible set of pipes anyone's ever heard, Rise Stevens. If you reeeaaaaalllly want to get blown away, listen to performance in Carmen.

Someday soon we all will be together

If the fates allow

Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow

Garland's version of the song, which was also released as a single by Decca Records, became popular among United States troops serving in World War II; her performance at the Hollywood Canteen brought many soldiers to tears.

Can't believe I haven't heard Father Christmas yet this year.

Meanwhile, I'm actually sick of River.  There are a couple of good covers of it out there, so it's getting pounded.

Still haven't heard that Vulfpeck Xmas tune either.
