Far Right troll Mike Cernovich is apparently the guy behind the recent unearthing of the offensive tweets which led to Disney firing director James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy).
He also turned his sights on Dan Harmon, who does the show Rick & Morty. Thankfully, Adult Swim seems to be run by more level headed executives than Disney, so Harmon still has his job.
All of this brings up a really interesting development; the far right weaponizing the creepy, reactionary liberal outrage culture which has defined Twitter and other social media platforms for years. It seems the trolls have found a way to turn the tables, and the outcome is predicably pretty horrible.

"Outrage culture", such as it is, isn't a liberal phenomenon. Think never-ending Planned Parenthood protests and the annual War on Christmas nonsense. The right has been inflaming their base for years along the lines of religious and cultural (coded: racial) outrage.

I see your point (remember, I came of age during the 90's, when the religious right was in full effect); but it's pretty clear the outrage mob on Twitter & other platforms has been driven largely by the radical left. College campuses are also good examples of this. A lot of prominent stand ups (Sienfeld, Rock, etc.) won't even play colleges anymore.
Seems trolls like Cernovich have found a pretty deadly way to turn that culture back on itself. Bill Maher has been warning about this for years, fwiw.

Nobody is safe from the outrage mob, especially other liberals. I recently had my own experience with a (soft) version of this here on philzone, and it was very illuminating. Obviously I can hold my own in any trolling scenerio, but my job wasn't at stake.
Has anybody watched that video of Bret Weinstein, the professor up at Evergreen College, being eaten alive by his insane, far leftist students? To see a jewish person treated that way in that context is beyond historical ignorance; it's the telltale sign of a movement that has lost its way and is moving into flagrant authoritarianism.

As misguided as the far left is they come to their views honestly. The far right views are whipped up by a PR machine funded by people like the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Addison. There is a legitimate career and real money as a right wing activist. Not a whole lot of people making a living being Anti-Fa.
The other big difference is the far right elects their activists to public office and the rest of the right are mostly mute when asked to comment on the latest outrage. Almost no one on the far left has been elected to public office, and people on the left routinely distance themselves from the likes of Maxine Waters.
When Sarah Huckabee was politely asked to leave a restaurant there was hang wringing on the left about civility. Meanwhile Trump appointed Michael Flynn to head the NSA, a man who retweeted the Hillary is running a child sex ring out of Pizza Parlor and no one on the right said a thing. Oh yeah and that Pizza story was started by the same person who just brought down the Hollywood director.

I disagree with that on a lot of levels. Identity Politics is a deeply ahistorical, brutal, tribalistic worldview that can only lead to violence and authoritarianism if left to its own devices. Dividing people up by group identites and ignoring their inherant individualism and personal liberty has already been tried, and it did not end well (see Stalin, see Mao).
