This last run with Jackie Greene and Lebo was fantastic, I loved it.

One person's good is another's ham & eggs, is another's Hallowed Q.

It's all relative, and considering that everything has been locked down for over a year and almost no one has been playing at all, along with the fact that Phil is 81 and has been retired from professional touring/leading national acts for almost ten years, it sounds like the little shows he's been playing lately with local pros at his clubhouse backyard have been fun & generally satisfying for those who've gone. And that includes Bob Weir, another local pro who has been showing up to play as well, and seems to be enjoying himself.

As for general talk about Phil on this site, again, considering that he's been retired from touring for years now and only plays pick-up shows at his little place with the local pros in the area, I think there's about as much or more chatter about Phil on here as anyone could reasonably expect.

I mean, how many times can people complain that Phil isn't doing exactly what THEY want him to do, exactly the way he was doing it 20 years ago?

Check in fairly often and you'll see how many times that tired fantasy rant can still happen.

Anyway, while I haven't seen any of these recent "distanced" backyard shows, it's my personal opinion that the local pros in the area are very, very good and the shows I was seeing with Phil & those folks a year+ ago, just before his 80th, were really strong, and while he may not be knocking down walls with his bass anymore, Phil continues to be a tasteful, intuitive & ultimately brilliant player who is still worth seeing.

Carry on.

Well stated Lance. Carry on indeed!

Thanks  lance I get the notions,  just wondering what they ve been playin! I kinda miss streamin along! And chatting Billy and the kids was a nice virtual scene imho

Scroll down a bit Thomas. There were a number of hand-held videos posted in the Never Miss a Tuesday Show! thread, taken from, well, last Tuesday I guess.

For whatever reason, TxR has been pretty tight about videoing the shows, so maybe they've been taken off of you-tube, but they were there a few days ago.

Hopefully the old boy has it in him to restage the Quintet w/Crosby show.

I would even custie up for the stream.

Not only what lance said but it's hard enough to even find setlists these days.   Not that I'm looking, but no one else is either.   It's like it didn't even happen.

If you're on Facebook there are often videos and set lists of backyard shows at TXR at:

https://www.facebook.com/Deadheadland

Thanks folks diving in!

So.... shows are 11 songs, but Cosmic Charlie...... go on home yo mamas callin you...need the aud!

Carrying on ..:

but a man can dream that phil will have knocked down a few more walls before all is  said and done

The man is a national treasure and he deserves control of his life and is over 80 fuckin years old and we couldn't be more grateful For having him in our lives

At the same time some opinionated assholes ( like myself)  really choose to feel somewhat unfulfilled going to those backyard shows

But I am an old get off my lawn sentimentalist and wouldn't mind some "top-tier" professionals joining in

And a WAY way more relaxed atmosphere where I don't feel like I'm in prison

But again that's just my voice being  a voice of one or perhaps many

and I just can't get into idolizing dead and company because it's the last few table scraps left ...in my opinion

The only constant in life is change
