Bob Marley's Gibson Les Paul Special & the guitars used on the Beatles Rubber Soul may be the most significant guitars not mentioned already.

In 1970 Eric Clapton purchased six Fender Stratocasters. He gave one each to Pete Townshend, Steve Windwood and George Harrison.

He built "Blackie" with the best parts of the remaining three.

I think a case could be made for both Keith Richard's Fender Telecaster, "Micawber" and Bruce Springsteen's Fender Esquire/Telecaster mash-up as being pretty darn significant.

No love for Wolf, Tiger, Rosebud...?

I never realized how much Buck Owens looks like Bob Denver.

<<<No love for Wolf, Tiger, Rosebud...?>>>

Plenty of love but I assumed that they were too obvious for this crew.

always wondered whether or not this was real or how he ended up with this guitar for the pic  claptongdguitar.jpg

That skull and roses is a photo shop job. Note the strings are missing between the bridge and the sound hole.

I actually played a Charlie Christian guitar, and I hope I don't go to hell for it, as I hacked "Down In a Hole" a song I was trying to learn at the time witch was not in the right tuning, and was embarrassingly shameful.   Ha ha ha...

It was found by a local guitar shop owner!

Very cool Les. I saw those pics when I was looking for a shot to post but wasn't sure how it ended up in Canada.

Thanks for posting that pic of Lucille I mediately came looking for after the RIP thread

While not necessarily "famous", I've always thought Bob's best work came on his Ibanez guitars...

Yeah man, when I saw Festival Express I did not make the connection.

Two degrees of separation between Garcia and Harrison?  Maybe they met when George made his ill fated pilgrimage to the Haight.

Delaney and Bonnie would be in the RRHOF if that joint had any cred at all.

Kim Simmonds from Savoy Brown's Gibson Flying V

Awesome twang, aiq!

I love kim, worked with him twice, he didn't have the Flying V, but a Gibson Les Paul, he is so underrated.

simmonds.gif

last time I saw Kim in 1999 he played an ES 335 and Les Paul....and he was amazing.

Saw him with the "V" in 1970 at Fillmore West...with Chris Youlden

If I could post pictures I'd have put Wolf & Tiger.

>> love kim, worked with him twice, he didn't have the Flying V, but a Gibson Les Paul, he is so underrated.

Thanks Hopple Head &Lloyd. I'm seeing Savoy Brown here on LI 5/12/14. I am very stoked.
