Family & Cavitation .....

Forums:

My son graduated High School at 16, having skipped a grade. He was too young to go to college, so we sent him to India on a Gap Year program, where he studied Hindi, religion, yoga and sitar. When he was back home and enrolled at SUNY, he got noticed by all the SUNY New Paltz Indian women on social sites because he spoke Hindi.

He married one..... her Dad is being installed as a fellow in the National Academy of Science, Engineering & Medicine on Sunday and we have traveled to DC to see his honor.

Her father is a BIG deal in scientific and engineering circles. He discovered (i.e. wrote the first paper) harvesting clean energy from the power of bursting bubbles. Wikipedia "cavitation"

Schmutzdecke, cool. Don.  All due respect . I hope you as proud as can be.

Cavitation is word of the day. :)

Cavitation is what happens when your joints crack

Don't roll them so so tight.

Congratulations Donster!  I hope you and your family have a very memorable weekend celebrating time and life accomplishments!

> harvesting clean energy from the power of bursting bubbles

That's pretty amazing, but I have to assume you don't mean harvesting clean energy from smoke bubbles.

Congrats to you and yours, Don.

I'll bet her family doesn't know how to do armpit farts

The House GOP could have powered Connecticut last week.

Have been in Chicago - my laptop does NOT remember my Zone P/w and neither do I. Back home and back on the Zone

Some good responses here .... thanks for the well wishes.

If the right nozzles are invented - maybe our kids can run cars and lawnmowers via cavitation?

Way cool. What a great story and honor.

I've been very pessimistic about the future of this world, given the acceleration of climate change and other challenges too numerous to list. To try to improve my attitude, I picked up a book I heard about called "Not Too Late," subtitled "Changing the Climate Story from Despair to Possibility" from Haymarket Books. It's a series of essays (23) from various writers and climate activists edited by Rebecca Solnit and Thelma Young Lutunatabua and it's been good to read about the positive things that are happening around the world and the changes taking place from a variety of perspectives and locations. It makes one think maybe there IS hope. Pretty easy to read too. Only about 200 pages and most essays are about 4-5 pages, so it's easy to find a few minutes here and there.

Maybe "cavitation" will be in the next edition as the story unfolds! Thanks for posting about it, Nod.

It was a great event!  Peeps like CTOs from Apple, Intel, Zoom, etc.

I've been harvesting clean energy from the power of bursting bubbles for a long time --- I carry one of these on my belt whenever I know I'm going to need a boost. It's so much healthier than relying on an 8-ball to get ya thru a long night.

Afterburners ON, Alan!

There has to be a fart bubble gag somewhere.  Big time congrats and a lifetime of well being to the new family.

wow

that's as far back as it goes

I mean Far Out ...

Does he like the Dead?

Great combo of family and science news, Don. I wish everyone a long, happy and bubbly life.

well played Slick
