At the advice of our Operations person at work, I ran my numbers through the IRS tax calculator. Based on the same #s as 2017, it showed me getting nothing back next April, which kind of worries me. There's fine line between breaking even and owing, and with the purpose of the new tax plan I figure it will be the latter. I don’t foresee big expenses on my rental this year, which could fuck me.
I changed my standard deduction from 2 to 1, just to be sure. So, no “raise” for me this year. Come July 1, health insurance for my kids will cost me $250 more a month, and copays, deductibles and out of pocket max all go up dramatically.
Being self employed, tax time is pretty damn depressing. Just when you get done patting your back on how awesome of a year you had, the tax man cometh, and cometh hard.
I am finally over my frustration that this admin is the fuckin worst. Met with my accountant and realized they changed my fed deduction to give me a few extra bucks a week so they can say how awesome this tax plan is. I would have gotten a 6k bill next year and a possible penalty for using the gov money, funking crooks. Check your w2 so you don't get a surprise in April. I readjusted my fed deductions to match last years, funking ass clowns
