Englishtown 40 Years Ago Today

Forums:

My favorite GD show.  Couldn't go because of family obligations and it turned out to be the one that got away for me.  Probably have listened to this more than any other show.  I remember for years afterwards, WMMR would rebroadcast it.  Did catch the Spectrum show in April 77 but still hold a grudge against my cousins where we went instead of the show. IMHO, the Half Step is the jam of all jams and arguably, the best versions of FOTD, Peggy O, Eyes, Loser and He's Gone through NFA is orgasmic.  Even Looks Like Rain gets a nod to one of the best.  Were you there--do tell.

>>> and He's Gone through NFA is orgasmic.

one of my favorite sequences of GD music.

I was there. We went the night before and stayed up all night until the gates opened. Set blankets down and crashed. Somehow we didn't have a clear sense of where we were and wound up smack in the middle of the whole thing and not all that close. No matter. It was an amazing day. By the time they played that NFA we were like jelly. We were time travelers from another dimension. We had a really hard time finding the car after the show. Good times.

Coulda.

Shoulda.

My first GD show!

Had a great time.

That Half Step is off the hook, one of (if not) the best ever.

Ahhh the memories. One of my all time favs. Got a really cool story about it. Just too tired to type it all right now. Someone remind me and I'll post it another time.

arrrgh the helicopters...

My 2nd show and the gamechanger for me. I called in sick to my cashier job at Stop & Shop, knowing it meant termination for taking a Saturday off. Best decision I ever made. Spent the day with NRPS, Marshall Tucker Band & The Grateful Dead & 150,000 of my best friends.
