Endless Summer

Forums:

Today the forecast high for Seattle is 82.  The record high for this day is 72.  This will be the latest day an 80 degree temperature has ever been recorded here.

We have had an unusually dry spell with little measurable rain since June.  This has led to ongoing wildfires that have produced smoky skies with poor to hazardous air quality for the last month and a half.

Temps will drop into the upper 60s tomorrow and for the rest of the week, which is still about ten degrees higher than normal for this time of year.  It looks like next Saturday will finally bring a steady pattern of rain and cooler weather.

Besides the humans, this can't bode well for the wildlife in the Pacific Northwest.  Yesterday, it was reported that Alaska has canceled  it's King Crab and Snow Crab seasons.  I'd imagine the climate change is wreaking havoc on the bird and fish populations too.

We should be trying to get back to the garden, but it looks more like like we're going to hell in a bucket.

it rained here the last 2 days.

I hear ya Herbal!   Climate anxiety is real.

Maybe those closures in Alaska will help modify wealthy consumers' addictions to seafood that must be shipped halfway around the world. Eating local and in season helps reduce carbon emissions caused by transportation.

(Not preaching to you, just sharing 1 thing everyone can do to help ... according to studies done in my Portland office, the consumption habits of the wealthy disproportionately increase carbon levels.

86 in Portland in mid October? Crazy times ...and almost 80 on the coast yesterday.

Yeah, we were at the beach yesterday and it was warm.  Wore a heavy long sleeve shirt anticipating more seasonal temps.  That was a mistake.

Classic mid October weekend in the Northeast. Beautiful.

The NE Rules in any season.

End of summer always makes me think of the Doors + The Ventures

I thought this was a Beach Boys thread

This Tuesday Inland North County San Diego it will be in the 90's again .

We've had eight days of rain this year.

Me too Woz.

On the Marin coast this Oct., it's been (almost) Endless Fog, which is pretty unusual for October here.

It happening really fast.  Worst case scenario. We really need to stop using fire to move us

I thought it was a Surf movie thread.

It's been hot/warm in Eugene til today when it's around 70˚ and less smokey. It's been awful and now it's just bad.

I thought it was a Surf movie thread. <<< Me Too Judit

My movie: went to Newport yesterday - it was foggy, windy, and about 60 deg. Brought a jacket but left it in the car. I was wishing I had worn it a few minutes later - and I don't even usually get cold.

Rain still forecast for the coming weekend.

I thought it was a surf movie thread too! Good movie.

The records continue to roll in the PNW, many different kinds too!  Records highs, record high lows, most days above 80 in Oct, etc...

 Here's some numbers from yesterday

88.

That was the recorded high yesterday at Sea-Tac airport.  Broke the previous record for this day by 16 degrees.

Wonder what we'll call Glacier National Park once all the glaciers have gone?

The human race is failing.

Peaked at 93 today. Warmer tomorrow .

I was down on the Outer Banks this w/e for a beach wedding.

Just exactly perfect.
