Saw Phil smoke a doobie in his cubby before the lights went down for the first set.
More like he saw us smoking one in the lower seats behind the stage. Then he stepped out where we could see him take a puff. He smiled our way then dissappeared back into his cubicle of gear boxes.

It was the first Easter Sunday I'd ever spent away from home. The first set only had six songs, but every one was a keeper, and the energy was high. Jerry was on point all night. Beautiful versions of She Belongs To Me and Morning Dew at this show. I missed my folks but was enjoying being around my new friends and family, 20,000 souls in communion.
I hope everyone is healthy and making the best of it this Easter Sunday. My thoughts go out to any of you all feeling sick, tired or heavily burdened, to those grieving the loss of family, friends or loved ones. May peace find you and the light shine your way.

4/12/2009 was my only Easter show. The Dead. Greensboro, NC. That same day I asked my wife to marry me! (in the lot of course). We talk about it all the time still.

Here is the one time I saw
Here is the one time I saw the band on Easter, and boy did it suck. Garcia was in terrible shape with a cold and no voice.
The capper was when they got to Black Peter and he became so frustrated with his lack of voice that he took his mic out of
the stand and SLAMMED it down on the stage, then ripped a short but sweet solo that said "Ok I can't sing, but I can still play."
After that disaster they still encored with Baby Blue. Just a weird night all around.
