DSO at UC Theater in Berserkeley

Forums:

Have been having a blast at the UC in Berkeley with DSO.

Thursday night they performed the Saturday night show from the Greek Theater (just about a mile up the hill from the UC Theater).
May 14, 1983

Feel Like a Stranger
Friend of the Devil
Me and My Uncle
Mexicali Blues
Tennessee Jed
My Brother Esau
Bertha

Shakedown Street
Playin' in the Band
China Doll
drums
The Wheel
Playin' in the Band
Morning Dew
Sugar Magnolia

E: One More Saturday Night

Added songs:  Positively 4th Street, Satisfaction

The band was hot from the get go with a great Stranger.  Highlights included a great wind up jam on Tennessee Jed, and interesting Esay, and a frenzied Bertha.   The Dew was fat!
I was able to call this show within 2 songs by searching for a show on my phone that started with Stranger, Minglewood and simply scanning the list.... It all made sense.

Similarly, last night (Friday) at UC they didn't wander too far out of chronology.
They played the Sunday night Greek show from '83!

May 15 1983 at The Greek Theater in Berkeley

Touch of Grey
New Minglewood Blues
Ramble on Rose
Cassidy
Brown Eyed Women
Hell in a Bucket
Althea
Looks Like Rain
Deal

Help on the Way
Slipknot!
Franklin's Tower
Samson and Delilah
He's Gone
drums
Truckin'
Stella Blue
Throwin' Stones
Not Fade Away

E: Baby Blue

This show originally featured a guest shot by Flora Purim and Airto during drums.
Last night those roles were filled by Lisa Mackey and Pete Lavazolli (drummer and singer with JGB).

Really fun time and a great crowd.  Band is hitting it on 8 cylinders - hard and fantastically.

Here's one of several vids I capped.
Other than some flat vocals by Mattson the instrumental drive and capability of getting to high peaks of ecstasy is routine for this great band....

>>>I was able to call this show within 2 songs by searching for a show on my phone

That's not calling a show. In fact, it's not in good form if you have to cheat like that, at least in my mind.  If you can't call it with your head, just wait till Eaton or Rob B discloses at the encore--that's the best way to play.

Also...I know all of us are different and everything, but why anyone would want to know the show before it's over and look at the list is beyond me.  You're just robbing yourself of dopamine/excitment.  I've known shows after the second song and been kind of bummed at my brain about it.

I wanted to go to this one but just couldn't pull it off.  Sorry I missed you Jon and Salvador and Treflo and Treble and the rest!

Hopefully, I will see them next time around.

Tru dat, Felina.

Was pretty packed is my only minor gripe.

Glad i picked Sat. of the three nights, musically.

You won't see any other band pull off that era of GD music like they did last night!...Sorry you couldn't make it David! The Viola to end the first set was mind bending...Too crowded but a fantastic venue for sure!

welcome back to CA boys... see ya fri Dino  cheeky

glad to hear the band is cookin'

Thanks again Dino for the kind email.

Have a safe trip, this rain is really nasty.
