Anyone attend these?  Looks pretty good, with a Rowan sit-in on Night 1and a Weir sit-in on Night 2.  Shakedown Street played both nights?  How was it?  Did anyone give Vorty a poke?

No PNW shows this go around, but all of you Colorado and New England folks have shows on the way.  With restrictions lifting, these shows should be fun little baccanals.

Must feel good playing in a GD tribute band where the likes of Bob Weir and Peter Rowan come and go through your set.

Bummed they aren't coming through town but stoked to have tix for ole Pete Rowan with his Free Mexican Airforce featuring Los Texmaniacs on Feb. 27 at the Alberta Rose.

I've been seeing friends' reports that he was there and couldn't figure out what he would add. Well, it he added Bobby Weir's voice and guitar and he and the band played well together.

Good job on the video, Ted (Treblemaker), and thanks for posting the link, Noodler.

>>couldn't figure out what he would add.

I know that the Bobby hate is hipper than ever, but really, just really? That's just silly.

Who gives Weir fashion tips?

Where's the Bobby wannabe in that video?

No Bobby hate here, Brian. Where did you get that idea from what I wrote? Read it again.

They have their own "Bobby" and I wondered if it would be just a celebrity thing or if he'd really add something. If he'd play with Eaton on stage, if he'd play by himself, or what? I liked what he did there.

Dueling Bobby's would likely require a Gallager style spit shield (or would they take it to the GWAR level, LOL)

(BTW, I thought Bobby's singing was Phantastic in that link above, guitar playing pretty spot on too, and no lounge band tempos)

I like that Bobby wears what he seems comfortable in.

I heard what you heard, Noodler.

Does he really go out to a restaurant with his family and wear that stuff?

Do you actually care what  he wears when he goes out?

People wear what they wear, does it really matter? Who cares?

Did you raise that question about Jerry? Or other casually dressed celebrities?

It was the, "...couldn't figure out what he would add." I read that as Bobby hate, because what he adds seems so simple. Like you said, he adds Bobby.

I don't care what he wears.

It has nothing to do with casual. It's his get up lately that I find a little obnoxious. But he can wear what the fuck he wants.I just find some of it a little weird. Ok!

I like the ask the band segment from eons ago, "Rober(t)" as Jerry's fashion designer, lol

Here's more videos from DSO, others have posted too, but I like the longer clips of songs;

Oh.

I was wondering why they were playing the airport.

Carry on.

From Daisy Dukes to the Good, Bad, and Ugly, Bob earned it and more power to him.

Sounds like a fun run of shows at the Warfield. I'm glad DSO is having a full tour again and I'm looking forward to the Jubilee.

This show was my first live music since 2019. I haven't gone that long without a show since I was 16. Great way to go back and good to see Bobby up on stage again in the Warfield. I pretty sure the last time I saw him there was the Phil closing of the Warfield shows when AEG was getting set to take over. Still has to be one of my all time favorite venues. So many good memories, and Saturday night is another one.

That first set was  ridiculous from a song selection point of view. Stranger, Franklins, Music Never Stopped, Shakedown, Cassidy, China Rider, Dew I mean seriously what the fuck.

The best part was Bobby's voice. I don't know if he went to a voice coach or what but let's just say that Shatner has been blasted into space never to be seen again. I had zero complaints even on the Jerry songs. My only quibble was that Mattson seemed a little tentative with Bob on stage, because yes I always have to have a quibble.

As has been said here before go to the show. And now on to Bjork on Tuesday which should be an interesting juxtaposition.

Bjork is touring? That sounds awesome!

Did Rob go to the taper section when Bob took his spot?

"Did Rob go to the taper section when Bob took his spot?"

That's pretty funny, NedB! I've always wondered what Bobby thought of DSO. Don't get me wrong-Ive seen them many times and always enjoy them. But since they seem to be the most "authentic" Dead Cover band in the land, to the point of apeing the Boys' actual shows, setlists, etc, its always intrigued me. True. even Dead and Co is a cover band as well. Is this the first time Bobby played with them?

How are you all feeling about attending indoor shows?

I still haven't been to a show in 2022.  I figured if Omicron is keeping me away from going to the office and visiting my clients then the least I can do is to try to keep myself from getting sick.

Otherwise, I would have likely attended one of the DSO shows.

Still thinking about catching War on Drugs, which I've never seen live.

Is this the first time Bobby played with them?

No... Bob has been sitting in with DSO for almost 20 years now. That last how he found JK after all...

>>>How are you all feeling about attending indoor shows<<<

I had decided a while back to take a sabbatical from shows for at least two or three winter months... but I'm wavering.

I've skipped a number of shows lately I might have gone to otherwise, but I did go to my first 2022 show the other night, a jazz show at the Kuumbwa in Santa Cruz, indoors & mostly full, and I survived.

I have a pricey ticket to a show coming up at the Miner in SF, my seat mostly away from others and for what I paid & who's playing I'm not skipping that one, and a friend is opening a new venue later this month and I figure I have to go to a couple of his shows, so I guess it's a bit of a "If it's good enough (to me) then what the hell, what's going to happen is going to happen" type of deal.

The great Simon Phillips is playing with his fusion band at Yoshi's this Wednesday, and while I would normally go to that, I'll likely skip it, but there are a few others this month that are calling my name.

We will see.

As for DSO, that was an easy pass as they've never been my cup of juice, but in the past I have enjoyed a couple of their shows at the Warfield specifically, since when I went to the very top of the balcony the sounds, smells & visuals really brought me back to my youth. That great old place still looks & feels the same as it ever has.

Which is pretty far out.

So, GTTS!

But be careful out there.

I think Bobby's hat is quite stylish, never did quite get that " pantashort" thingie though, Weir shorts or pants ! I say

I've basically avoided indoor shows during peaks of covid waves, but other than being reasonably safe, still hitting shows. In 2022, I did go to a show the last week of January, and it was indoor and packed. I'm blessed that my family of 5 has somehow avoided covid in all its forms since the outbreak began, even while each successive wave brings people down around us, people we interact with. Somehow we keep not getting it. I saw a good number of shows in 2021 to make up for 2020, and one show so far this year, but I got plenty planned for the rest of 2022, Lord willin' of course.

Going to the show is a risk. It does help that SF requires everyone to show proof of triple vax to get in and yes I know there are plenty of counterfeits out there. There was also a mask requirement. I would say about 60% wore masks mostly because they were drinking. I'm thankfully not immune compromised and neither is anyone I live with. This wave has shown as conclusively as you can that if you are boosted and not compromised in some way your chances of ending up in the hospital is next to nothing. I think at this point the two hour drive into the city was probably a bigger risk of ending up in the hospital than covid.

This is my third time seeing Bobby play with DSO and this was by far the most Bobby centric time. This was 100% the Bob show with DSO backing him up except for the fact that the tempos were pretty normal. The first time I saw him was back when JK played with them -  that was Bobby sitting in with DSO. JK sang all the Jerry songs and Bobby took his songs. The second time I saw him play was still with JK and Bob walked up to the mic for a Jerry song and it looked to me like the whole band was surprised he was taking lead vocals. Phil didn't seem to try and lead the band when he played with them which was an incredible set of music. I do wonder how the band feels about it at this point but not like they can say no when uncle Bob shows up  - you got to let him play.

In my opinion DSO is best when the play 70's dead which is what I most prefer to see them play. I never got to see that live so for me that is fun, but may not be that fun for those of you who were there.
