DSO Jubilee 2018

Forums:

Hey now! All Good is presenting the 7th Annual DSO Jubilee this year on Memorial Day weekend as usual! Early bird pricing ends tonight @ midnight. Here's the lineup.

We plan to attend once again! winkI have met some cool people at this festival over the past 6 years! angel

I thought these people were breaking up, or going on hiatus or something?

...touring break never happened...the Fall Tour leg 1 was announced and on they went...

DSO Jam in The Sand starts this Thursday - Saturday. I would love to be able to go one year. It's like a working vacation for the band...DSO, Hot Tuna & The Rumpke Mountain Boys.

It is truly Bizarro World when Hot Tuna is a supporting act for DSO.

The shark was jumped when DSO was charging $30 more than Ratdog; playing the same venues days apart.

Poor JK

I still find it surprising DSO will be playing Red Rock for the first time this year. ..Greensky's been packing that place a couple years now. Theyre playing 2 nights this year headlining.

hot tuna has a hard time selling out a HOB let alone hosting a festival.

Went for 1st time last year. Not a short drive from Central New York by any means, but new job makes Memorial Day Weekend a 4 day deal by giving us the Friday so all was good on that front.

Very nicely laid out little festival. Music was good. Very enjoyable.

So, bought tix last night before the early bird pricing went up. Save $120 on 2. Again, all good!

No shit? Ratdog hasn’t played in years and DSO seems to be charging around 30-45 to see a show nowadays.

I continue to think there is a market for a Bobby and Midnights cover band. Eaton should buy a few pastel colored pirate shirts and take it on the road.

Yes and he can charge $150 a show because that’s what they do

I've not paid more than $25 to see DSO for a normal show. My last show was in October at the Taft Theatre. It was $25.00.

Fark is a great highlight of the Jubilee. He's genuinely one of the friendliest guys there, and his crew hosts a pretty generous cookout. They've always been super kind to us. See you in May..

Thanks Lager! Yea baby, glad to hear that you will be there & that I am going to get me some face to face Lagerandgospel time! yes

Cookout will be raging on Sunday afternoon as usual. We've done BBQ chicken tenderloins for the last 2 years so I am not really sure exactly what we will be whipping up on Sunday. Friday is usually ribs & burgers, Saturday is usually the delicious Red & White Hots from Rochester, NY's famous Zweigle brand. https://zweigles.com/products/product/type/natural-casing-hot-dogs/.     Sunday is usually BBQ chicken. We will be hanging in the handicap camping section with my crew, Team Us again & we will be setup to the right of the soundboard when facing the stage. Look for the 4 sheets of plywood on the ground creating our no slag or gravel dance floor!

angel Come on Zonahs, don't be afraid to stop by to the right of the soundboard & say Hey Now & introduce yourself. I will have a cold beer or water waiting for ya and then we can take it from there! wink I think the lineup looks great this year! I especially love the JGB set with DSO & Melvin Seals! It's always so good that one is really not enough.

right? That’s been about my experience too. Which means the whole “DSO charges $30 more than Ratdog” comment is wrong.

32.50 at buckhead theater in Atlanta plus fees.

Not wrong at all.   Seems to be quite right.

Grateful Dead hiatus was only after 8 years- these guys are long overdue.

Must keep appearances.

I interloped to the Jubilee last year and had the time of my life... unfortunately I'm not gonna make it again this year

the festival layout and operation -- on-site camping within a short walking distance from the main stage, hot showers, decent food & cool vending scene -- is especially fan- and freak-friendly

last year I met and hung with Lager and his lady, and Fark and crew... got a heaping helping of eastie hospitality that helped make it a truly memorable experience

say hi to the plywood peeps for me, Fark! heart

Wouldn't travel to see DSO, especially a festival where it might rain (yes I'm Old), but the supporting bands look pretty decent.

DSO plays New Haven every year, sometimes twice, & back in Nov they played 3 times w/in an hour of me, tix were $30 - $35 (the northeast is always more expensive than elsewhere).  I remember paying around $40 - $50 for Ratdog @ same venues around 10+ yrs ago.  Furthur was around $65 the 1st couple of years.  Was pleased w/the DSO shows I saw in Nov, would rather see DSO than JRAD & certainly DeadCo.

I was actually liking the line up for this and the folks backstage at New Years were telling me it's a good time :) They were from oHIo and I have never been I told them, we got into this whole crazy conversation about how NOT to go to Youngstown if I go there...lol . They were concerned for my innocent appearance and had no clue, but it was funny for backstage antics and they were super cool and hilarious, then I told them that I worked in Atlantic City in the HIV clinic and at Cooper in Camden in the past.

They then said " ohhh, if you worked in Camden then Youngstown is kinda like Camden, NJ !!  It was one of "those" crazy conversations....;)

Fark, when I told them I am a zoner the dude wa like " Fark" is my homeboy !  Can't remember his name but he was funny :)  I would like to know the chic i was talking with, she was super fun and I forget her name ( she had a cool hat on, big pretty eyes and brown hair). If I do ever get to the jubilee I will def look you up Fark, and bring ya some of my homemade jam.

When are GD cover bands going on hiatus?

I for one have never been more burned out on those tunes. Even in Seattle, some of the best musicians have sold out, quit their bands, and jumped on the GD cover train to pay the bills.

Humans are very attracted to taking the path of least resistance.

>>> When are GD cover bands going on hiatus? <<<

One of the big attractions about going to see GD cover bands is people getting together - the tribe gathering, if you will. I'm rarely into crowds, or GD covers, but I do go to DSO when they come to Eugene. They're great at what they do and I enjoy visiting with Dino.

$30 more than ratdog, that would of put the dso ticket around $70 I'm calling bs never seen a dso show here for more than $35

Yeah I blame the dental surgery for my reading comprehension.

But the surgeon did ask if I wanted nitrous while listening to the dead sirius station he was queuing up.    "I can take you right back to the moment"

GaryFish ~ We loved partying with you! So happy that I got to meet you. And of course they way we met was memorable. I will tell the story for VLZ. It was Saturday afternoon & I was close to the stage grooving & taking photos of Hot Tuna & I turned around and saw this cool looking long haired fellow walking down straight for me to get close to the stage too...and I suddenly thought that I may recognize this guy so as he got closer I stepped forward and said "Are you GaryFish from The PhilZone?" Gary said "Yes, how did you know that because I don't think we have ever met." I said "I am Fark, I recognized you from photos from The Philzone..." Classic! Sorry to hear that you can't make it this year...maybe next year when they hopefully get some DNB back on the schedule! Had a blast drinking Terrapins with you during Terrapin too!

Cumberlyn ~ pretty sure that was my buddy Murph & his wife I went to high school with Kris!  They are cool and old friends of mine. Yes if you plan to come to the Jubilee please let me know. My wife and do not camp any longer and we always stay down the road 6 miles west of the venue @ Red Roof Inn. My wife drives us after each day so that works out well & we day park in the Family Camping / Gate 4? entrance in the rear of the venue each day pretty early. There are a few hotels even closer to the venue about 3 miles west but we like Red Roof because it has a 24 hour Travel America right across the street which we can walk too late night if needed.

Judit ~ Enjoy the Dinner with Dino! I haven't missed one here in Cleveland @ HOB in the last 5 years! 2 years ago we had 21 of us for Dinner with Dino!

Cool pics, but why are they all of Tuna??

you'd rather shots of the fat melting corpse that is jeff mattson?

Fark, thanks and i'll let you know if I come out, I don't camp either...way too old for that  :)  I remember now he said his name was Murph, he was so funny...always a good time on New Years with DSO, a tradition for me now for 3 yrs. I make my annual jam delivery of 3 dozen jars and other goodies ( I was walking around handing out my mini cannoli to everyone, they were a hit.

Good Times, indeed !

Bump - any zoners in attendance this year?

I am attending. Excellent show last night.
