Drive-by Truckers

Forums:

Saw them for the first time last night and was one of the best shows so far of 2022.   Never really listened to them much but they put on a fun, high energy show.   Sounded sort of like Wilco, but more gritty.

I dig them.  Patterson Hood is an excellent songwriter and is equally adept with prose.  His dad is David Hood, the Muscle Showls Studio bassist.  Glad you enjoyed them!

they put on a great show if you like rock n roll.

bummed the pappy n harriet's show here sold out.

I've seen them two or three times, all a long time ago.

They never seemed to catch with me, but I can't remember exactly what my issues were.

I do recall that the first time I saw them the main guy went on some harangue between songs and came off as pretentious.

But that was many years ago.

It's always good to see a little rock 'n roll though, and there are people that swear by that band, so good for all who go to the show.

Great band. And rather enduring as well. Many lineup changes, no change in quality rock and roll output from the principals.

I loved them most on that tour with spooner oldham i think

They've been my favorite band for a long time now. I first saw them in 2003 open for Gov't Mule at he Fillmore and I was instantly hooked. I recently saw my 53rd show just a few weeks back at a bar in Ft Worth, TX with less than 300 people in attendance. I love this band. I proposed to my wife at a Dallas concert and it just so happened that they played my bachelor-going away party weekend at the Fillmore in Nov 2014 with Sturgill Simpson opening the shows. The live album "It's Great To Be Alive" was recorded during that run. In 2019 I had an opportunity to meet Patterson Hood after a solo show in Deep Ellum and got to tell him all of that with my wife standing at my side. He loved hearing the stories and signed my copy of the live album wishing the both of us well. I understand they're not for everyone but IMO they're the best American rock n roll band out there on the road today.

"I can't die now 'cause I got another show to do.."
