Do you address parents of childhood friends by first name or still as "Mr. & Mrs. Soandso"?

Forums:

I'm still inclined to go with Mr. & Mrs. so and so ... but not sure if this feels more weird than first name basis?

As an adult, I've started with Mr. and Mrs.   Then adjust to first names, if the recipients clarify how they would like to be addressed.

My sister in law asked me why I call my Mother-in-law Mrs.

I told her that is her name.

When I was in College I joined a co-ed Fraternity that had a ton of people with funny nicknames.... (mine wasn't so funny - but it fit me: "Grateful Ted.")
When Parents Weekend came around, as a group we decided to refer to our frat bro's parents by their nick names....
So I introduced myself to Mr and Mrs Toad, Mr and Mrs Stretch, Mr and Mrs Freak, Mr and Mrs Schloot-Foot etc.....

haha, most of them are either dead or too old to care... A more apt question for our age group is what do you want the youts to call you, Mr Mars?

I prefer first name unless they're family or close friends of the family, in which case I have them call me Uncle or Tio |-|/-\|_|_ (depending on which side of the family they're on).

I just call him Pedro

All of my parents friends are dead.

Most of the old parents I know are racist and don't deserve respect.

There are a few that even at almost 55, I feel weird calling by their first names, no matter how much they insist.

lol ... I don't like being called Mr. Mars (or "sir"), definitely makes me feel old.

However, friend's parents are used to this protocol for as long as any of us can remember.

Going to an old friend's wedding soon & will see his parents .... and for some reason this is a question in my mind.
