New David Simon show starts this Sunday on HBO in the old Game of Thrones time slot.
Even after all the fantastic seasons of Game of Thrones, and the incredible new Twin Peaks, I think The Wire is still my favorite show of all time. Treme was powerful and great...plus it has jazz AND ramen, my two favorite things. Show Me a Hero a year or so ago was probably the best short miniseries I've ever seen. Leave it to Simon to turn the most unintersting sounding topic, a public housing mandate, and turn it into one of the most engrossing and powerful shows that year.
The Deuce is about the budding porn industry in the Times Square area in the early 70's. Here's hoping for a GD reference somewhere. The pilot episode is 1.5 hours long and has premeried early on HBOGO and is available on most popular free streaming sites already. I'm about to tear into it. Not expecting something as good as The Wire, but I am expecting something great.
