Desert Island Dead

Forums:

You get one set from one show. What do you pick?

Mine is the second set from 4/8/72, Wembley Empire Pool.

Truckin', Big Railroad Blues, It Hurts Me Too, Dark Star > Sugar Magnolia > Caution (Do Not Stop On Tracks)

Good choice. I picked up a copy of E72 in The Uk that had a stub from that show in the sleeve.

I might go with 11/11/73

Mississippi Half-Step Big River Dark Star Mind Left Body Jam Eyes of the World China Doll Sugar Magnolia Uncle John's Band

GAMH - 8-13-75

"on lead guitar and vocals, Mr. Jerry Garcia ... will you welcome, please, the Grateful Dead!"

Pembroke Pines 5/22/77 set 2

Samson & Delilah

Sunrise

Estimated>

I tried but its an exercise in futility.

If you can pick a single golden set, God bless ya. My brain just sizzled to a light crisp trying to come up with one.

I try to remember killer shows I listen to, to pass on to the list, but then I forget to, then I forget the show. I even try writing em down, but then I lose the piece of used paper towel I wrote em on.

> I tried but its an exercise in futility.

Welcome to the black screen, Ras. Are you new here? lol

It's not a big deal, dude, Just something to do on a Wednesday, and your mind could always change tomorrow.

Miami Set 2

Someone must be very bored.

That would be a coin-flip toss-up between my trusty old CASSETTE recordings of either 3.21.90  II or 9.10.83 II

>>10/26/89 Miami Set 2<<

i'd proffer that the first set, though on paper looks just OK, it was a lot better in person and that from the next to last song pairing of set one ' Victim > weirdness > Dont Ease Me In ' on through ' And We Bid You Good Night ' was all FIRE...

sat about three or four rows up from the floor, center, back of lower bowl and got transported to dimensions undefinable by words alone...

2-13-70

do-little chiming in as the turd in a punch bowl as usual.

something (set 2)  74

2-13-70 is a good choice

As far as shows that I've seen:

Shakedown Street

Terrapin Station
Drums
Space
Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad

Again

Mikey Get a grip! LOL!

thanks , Noodler is that one set wholey shmokes!... gonna put that on now!

9-18 Garden mentioned above might be my best witnessed.  At least as good as any other.

Ok mike I'll give it another shot. I'm kinda partial to set 2 from the Glen soundcheck,  it doesn't leave my rotation for very long. A couple others from 73 really ring my bell too.  Then there was that 72 waterbury dark star set that was sumthin from another time and space. Can't forget a few from 77 that were other worldly as well. And once Brent felt at home in his seat it opened up a whole new chapter of holy WTF did I just hear.  But there's so many its almost impossible to nail down just one set.

Are there any shows y'all can think of that are the worst shit you ever saw or heard them play ? I don't think I ever left a show thinking boy did that hurt. The band humped a lot of shows in their career, there might be one or two that sounded like a stubbed toe.

How about a run of shows?  A couple are mentioned already.

Boston is overlooked.  Real good source:  End Set 1 Playin'   Set 2 highlights: Dew, Greatest, Star>Brokedown, NFA>GDTRFB>NFA

Two reviews from Setlists.net.  By far the worst show I ever saw. Look at that set list, horrible.   This was the worst show I'd ever witnessed.

My OP was a provocation at best. It's up to the rest of you to decide what to do about it.

Not as many times as he brings the derp, Lance. I don't think anything was deleted here.

Nobody is editing his posts.

So high you never sent it ,,,   LOL atta boy

The delightful sunny day 8/28/82 in Veneta, whole show.

I guess I would pick something pretty dynamic. I assume the desert island would have an amazing sound-system, with massive subwoofer?
Maybe the 2nd set of 8-4-76. I always dug Phil's prominence in that mix.

Or maybe 3-1-69?

Not sure how long I'd last on a desert island anyway...

Coconuts? Again??

Let us pray we never have to limit ourselves to one Grateful Dead set.

That said, I have never been able to top this one.
