>..A day after the end of a government shutdown linked to wrangling over immigration, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said he pulled the offer because of what he said was Trump’s failure to follow through on the outlines of an agreement the two men discussed last Friday.
”So we’re going to have to start on a new basis and the wall offer is off the table,” Schumer told reporters. An aide said the offer was pulled on Sunday.
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus expressed fears on Tuesday that Republicans in the House of Representatives would pursue a harsh immigration bill written by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte.
The House measure would allow Dreamers to renew their legal status for three years, instead of putting them on a pathway to citizenship, and would call for hiring 10,000 more agents at U.S. borders while shutting down some visa programs and taking other steps to find people who are in the country illegally.
^Last time ted Cruz and the tea partiers shut it down over Obamacare and who gives a shit about that now? Nobody
the Republicans believe this is a winning campaign issue for 2018
McConnell will bring up some DACA compromise for a vote. Ryan will never bring it up for a vote in the House. McConnell keeps his promise, but still no DACA. Democrats will be blamed and the spin will be that Republicans care about America. Democrats care about illegal immigrants.
Most Americans support DACA - yes, legal protections for these immigrants brought to America as children and who registered with the US government. DACA recipients were promised a pathway to citizenship and they have bipartisan support. They just don’t have the support of racists, white Supremacists in Congress and the White House.
The DACA recipients are here illegally. Their only protection is the DACA program.
Not their fault, but they are in the country illegally
DACA- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
Their deportation has been deferred.
>We are a nation of immigrants, including these DACA kids.<
True, but irrelevant. For much of our history we had no immigration laws, now we do, and the DACA recipients violated immigration law.
>The GOP plays dirty, but It’s not going to change most Americans support for DACA<
But do most Americans support shutting down the government over DACA? I doubt it. This is not about swaying public opinion. The Republicans are playing to a small audience, they are trying to maintain control of Congress. I believe this audience will agree with the spin...

I understand DACA. I understand it has broad support.
What percentage of Americans support shutting down the government over DACA?
Do you think that the Democrats can win the PR battle?
If the Democrats force another shut down you had better get used to hearing these sound bites until the 2018 elections.
Republicans are working for Americans.
Democrats are working for illegal immigrants.
