Autopia can't seem to get rid of it.

Will the grid be able to handle all these electric cars?

Will six read the article?

American cars are made to breakdown so Mr. Goodwrench can fix it and make a living. Good riddance!

And American electric engines will be immune from planned obsolescence?

Your old road is

You will take my 1969 El Camino SS out my dead out stretched hands. ( or what ever Charleston Heston said)

The Petroleum Industry will keep Gas-powered vehicles going as long as there is Oil to be gobbled up and refined.  And that will be beyond our Great-Grand Kids'  life-span,  as we've plenty more of the black gooey stuff remaining.  There is no 'oil crisis' and never has been.  Except that Krap Nixon pulled in the early 70's...

The "Rooooshians" figured out the Abiotic Oil concept back in the 60's.  Shit ain't made of Dinosaur bones.  I like all the 'fossil fuel' references people still use,  but it's sort of like the bible thumpers believing in silly make-believe poo-poo,  and chiding others for not agreeing.  Sure,  Noah built a huge Ark and rounded up every single animal in mating pairs, and also their Food supply.  You bet.  Aardvarks to Zebras, right there on the Ark.

Maybe Noah did, Stu. Who really knows.
