its so fucking slow i miss jerry

True, has that stadium sound vs being a rock band...   the family band is a rock band, but needs the fire power of the legends (though I like the up and comers that occasionally go thru)

I liek how Mayer's snasal vocals really make Weir shine on Garcia tunes.

to expect any more than that from these guys is just selfish

I don't think its possible to put together a more boring set list.

(Honestly, I hope the younger Deadheads are enjoying it, though).

Earl, how did you enjoy the orlando dead co.? I enjoyed it, there were a few slowed down tunes but overall I was glad I went, which surprised me.

Set I = Just "Jackin' It"

[Tip of hat to TH.]

I'm gonna stick with the Bowling/Hamilton stream from the Cap.

Three jacks is a loser of a hand in Deep Ellem when there's cold rain and snow.  Ask Bertha.

Dark Star

Hey Joe!I thought the opening St. Stephen and Bucket were really killer... and the show gradually went  downhill from there. During that 2nd set China/Rider, I was really glad my boss picked up the ticket, (zzzzz) and thinking my days of arena rock are over.

Again- I'm happy it's happening and the another generation is diggin' how truly great the song's are- mostly the Garcia collection, of course, which are the bulk of the show.

Hope everything is groovy with you and the clan, Fab's.

PS Good times 'r comin' with Tyrod. wink

That BMR was actually very good.

I like me some BMR but that placement leaves something to be desired.

How was that Wharf Rat?

I found that the 'summercouch' mixlr stream kept buffering,  which was unpleasant.

The 'diane-andrea' stream didn't buffer,  but audio was not quite as sharp.

Although this is the closest 2-nite stop on deadCo tour,  there's nothing pulling at me to attend tomorrow night.

That would be just Great if I heard tonite's show and said " WOW I REALLY REALLY n e e d to go to Camden tomorrow !! "

I listened to St Stephen through The Wheel and found it pretty underwhelming. Switched over to Holly Bowling and was glad to be able to hear it.

I thought this evening was very special, I believe it will spoken about many years from now by people that discuss such things...but this evening's show was a watershed moment, a true statement...I'm excited about this tour and our community, it's an important chapter in the revolution of consciousness.

^^^^^

What.....

Holly and Tom from the Cap (couch tour) was fantastic.

Anyone there? Curious on how they drew, crowd wise.

"there's nothing pulling at me to attend tomorrow night."

I'm with you Stu.  I listened to the second set and despite some obvious improvement it still just doesn't hit the spot for me.  Chementi does a great job (expected), and Oteil is fine but can't take the place of Phil. Mayer's tone has improved but his playing, for the most part, leaves me flat. Don't even get me going on the drummers, when their greatest contribution is when you used to go to the bathroom you know it's not working.  The vocals, especially the harmonies, and pretty good these days and Bobby's voice sounds stronger than he has in years.

But his guitar playing?  I got the Vol. 1 No. 2 Road Trips this week (the compilation from Fall 1977) and have become convinced that this was his peak time.  Great tone and style, just all over the place with fat chords alternating with inventive fills.  As I was listening to it all I could think was "What's happened to this guy?"  I'll give them (Dead$Co) credit for working out a method where both guitars can be heard well, but Bobby's current technique consists almost entirely of single note runs with no chordal support.  His tone has actually gotten fatter, but it has to be since he's playing so many single notes to fill space.

When I hear Phil I still hear a musician at the top of his game.  When I hear Bobby, I hear a guy who is struggling to be be what he once was.  I'm glad that a lot of folks are enjoying having the ability to pretend, but that's all this is.  It's less than an hour up the road but listening on headphones last night while catching up on some reading was as much effort as I'll make for this band.

In all fairness I should add that, for the most part, I've given up on going to any concert in a large venue.  After almost 50 years of concerts  I'm just past the point of wanting to sit in a big place to see a show, I guess I've been spoiled rotten by the loge at the Capital.

I suspect that it was close to a sell out last night, my brother and some friends attended so I'll get the low down later today.

Are we accruing sock collection of late?

"be" spoken about

Thrilled for the scene, it's odd not having Phil there, the energy is not the same and he is conspicuous in his absence, there is a void in that regard, but in my humble opinion, something crystallized last night...a big dynamic is John's absolute humility, something very sublime took place towards the end of the 2nd set.

Checked in with a few folks who attended, they all thought that the first set was a snoozer but that things got interesting in the second set.  All agreed that Black Muddy River was the best song played all night, and the common complaint was that there are way too may young folks showing up and blabbering throughout the show.  Another reason I've been put off by large shows lately.

My brother was also amused by the taper who set up next to him with eight (!) microphones and who ran his rig by remote control from another seat.

Anyone there? Curious on how they drew, crowd wise.<<<<

i was there bud ..400 tickets were sold...I like when the cap is empty...they had a few rows of chairs on the floor..the sound was perfect ..an interesting take on the GD catalog..I didn’t  know holly bowling cld sing...T-Ham was solid..

Real nice video feed of both sets just came up a little while ago...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpAp1L01O4I

very good show @ the venue last night. place was very full. neat to see both sets open and close with same song. Black Muddy was clear nod to Jerry being in the house. Mayer haters, get over it. He is better than you, and most others. I could do w/o the diaper pants and neon kicks though :).  Sound was fantastic mix-wise. Liked the acoustic section. drums was great with a heartbeat throughout.  They were really giving it a lot. Bobby looked good. older, wiser, and a bit sentimental. When the lights shined on the crowd during Not Fade,  Bob kept looking at individuals with a bit of reflection in his eyes. And most of us were giving it right back. Highlights for me were stephen jam, cass, , deep elem, jackaroe, drumz. Big shakedown, little too big actually. But Everything was available. cheeky

on a nice day, with kind people, great sound and audience, I had a ton of fun.

Thanks Krab.

Will give it a listen.

Diamonds.?

Well, thats one way to lose those walkin blues....

during the Darkstar, Bob sang "diamonds and gold" a few times. So Diamonds in Darkstar and Gold from Loser? it was interesting (to me)  Thanks for setlists

Gold i'm familiar with...  diamonds not so much, but lots of sapphires in Montana (and Ruby's too).   (lots of diamonds in the region, but not gem quality...  look out for Wyoming diamonds, promising area)

First Blood Gold, and Montana Sapphires / Rubies
