What the hell. The PAC NW left off again?

Whole left coast.

My guess is that after these start selling they'll announce a short New Years run on the West Coast, unless that was already ruled out and I missed it.

if i find a ticket on ground....ill go to htfd show

I feel an obligation to see this band at least once. Three original members, Oteil and Chimenti are incredibly talented, Mayer has come into his own in a lot of ways, and they definitely have some occasional moments.

Probably just the one time though.

Ratboard points out that Mayer's site shows an additional Boston date on 11/19: http://johnmayer.com/

john-mayer-capitaine-sexy-L-1.jpeg

Saw one show this past summer at the SPAC.  The place was overrun with drunks and the music was mediocre.  Personally I don't plan on returning.

I'm with Jambone, In fact, I've already told all my old school Spanger-Oner buddies, who've always relied on me to get tix/make shoe arrangements, who call/text me all breathless about this announcement, that, "for sure man, I'll go, if one of you buys me a ticket now, drives me there, then I'll conveniently say I forgot my wallet, or that I have no cash and for some reason my debit card won't work in the ATM, then hope that you conveniently forget that I owe you for the tix, and of course I'll never give you any gas money and expect that you'll "turn me on" for free to boot."  Same dealio when Phil announced TFB gigs.  I feel SOFAKING liberated!

Hartford is on a Wed, increasing the possibility of free tix . . .

Thinking Boston may not get a 2nd show in those free dates between the first and DC show. Why would they hold that back?

One of the early rumours of dates had Buffalo in that slot....

mayer site has boston date on 19th.looks like 2 in boston

i see its gone now. it was up there a few hours ago

Those shows all all sell out solid, there will be no free tickets on the ground LOL.

New Year's run is on, SF and LA

The hep C crowd is not into this music apparently

>>> The hep C crowd is not into this music apparently <<<

The hep C crowd?

The 16th - 25th is what my peeps are going for. I am not sure for any. Detroit & Columbus are on the Fri. & Sat. of Thanksgiving weekend.

Isn't Oteil on tour right up through 11/11? Wow 11 straight dates w Oteil & Friends in 11 days then Dead & Co. Fall Tour?

Yeah I agree Judit that's was insensitive on my part. I apologize!

I should have gone with bass cult.

Guess I need to go to Dallas.

Altho that's pretty close to traveling, can take a while to get to Dallas from Foat Wuth on a Friday afternoon (45 minutes before 3pm, prolly hour or more after).

Might have to go to Austin too, seeing how it is one more saturday night.

But that would mean I'm clearly traveling to see them, probably take at least 4 hours on the back roads, and I despise I-35 and the theoretical 3 hours.

Oh well, not much else to do in TX.

Got a soft machine.

My greatest fear has now become a reality, they are playing so close to my home that I may have to go.

It was easy when friends said "you coming with us to Atlanta to see Dead Co?" naw too far, I got to work

What the hell , I may go to Dallas for a day. The drive over is shorter than the show will be long.

Would not think about Austin. Don't care for the venue, Frank Irwin Center.

i didnt care for Dead &Co in ATL this past tour ... tempo so slow its hard/awkward to dance too ....its good for the older folks who dont get off on dancing , who just want to sit around , drink , hang with old friends ....i feel bad for the younger ones just coming into our fold ... and this is the example ??....ehh what can ya do

If you do it we need to meet up, Jaz....I can't say no, it is too close.

Austin is also too close... a Saturday night in Austin is very fine, worth a few hours of Texas back country roads....hilly and 2-lane and kinda fun if you like getting high and watching rolling hills go by...

Austin city motto:   "Keep Austin Weird".    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keep_Austin_Weird

BUT, I just read Jaz's diss of the Erwin center...is it the UT basketball arena?

I'm 3-4 hours away, so bad venue maybe tolerable?    Is it bad enough to be un-trip-worthy?

I'm still SMH over some of the old school folks I know who actually went to see John Mayer.  Some kinda loss of sanity going on or something, guess I just don't wanna know - "hey maybe he'll play Althea & Friend of the Devil - OH BOYYYYYY!!!!!!!"  Like I said, SMH . . . .

You know this band really isn't that bad, right?

It's funny how everyone, including me, makes sure that we justify/qualify why we might go.

But really, they're not a bad band.

I mean, they're not the HALLOWED Q, but then that band was happening 16 years ago; these guys are happening now.

Plus, Bob Weir is in a real good place these days.

Good for you Bob.

GTTS!

No they really ARE that bad.  When Auto Tune is the Highlight of the Fuckin shoe, and they can't even pull off a decent transition between Black Peter & I Know You Rider (Saratoga).  THAT . . . . BAD

But @ the same time, I'm overjoyed with happiness for those who go & enjoy it, apparently they're selling tix better than The Dead in 03/04/09/Further (which to me were all VASTLY superior/creative).  Yes I know, I'm a jazz/avant garde snob with Asperger's Syndrom who doesn't like singing along to the obvious rockin' songs & couldn't care less about "the scene" & socializing, & goes to shoes to have my mind blown by deep psychedelic jamming.  So I'm stuck w/local jazz shoes, and that's just fine by me . . .

>>Yes I know, I'm a jazz/avant garde snob <<<

I heard Mayer brings chicks.

:)

drkstrjry I bet we could be friends.

That said, the shows are fun, and there's Drums/Space, even though it's only ever about 12 minutes anymore...  But if they come to your town, there are worse things to do on a night out.  Go to the shoe!

I should have gone with bass cult.

I still don't get it. Explain?

Us Judit. He's talking about us.

He should have just said the low-T crowd.

My guess is that the tixx will be expensive,  and sell very well.  Here in Jerseyland,  my options are NYC or Philadelphia.  With the excellent light-show,  a deadCO. show would be more fun than painting shelves.  However,  I don't want to spend a lot of hard-earned cash on deadCO,  and the shelves will last a lifetime.

Might be Fun to take a first-date Chick to one,  leave early and go for Thai food.  If She can tolerate a basketball arena full of Nostalgians,  maybe actual Museums exist in future Dates.

Perhaps we'll have many offspring and visit the Geraldo Riviera bronze statuette,  or the SpongeBob marble Gallery.

If my date has some sort of disability,  we can bring Hüsky along as Therapy Dog,  and get excellent ADA seats.  Of course,  I probably won't attend at all --

But it's all,  liek,  both  'Dizzy With Possibilities'  and 'Bigger Than A Drive-In Movie' ...

That's older people who like bass players? Oh, Lance, no wonder I didn't get it. I don't think of myself as high-or-low-T, so wouldn't have gotten that, either.

I'm not fond of huge crowds, is that part of it, too? I do like the size and feel of the Grate Room.

Absolutely, Steve. I just didn't care for the Irwin Center for shows when I lived there. So many other great venues in Austin. Deal breaker?  NO?

My wife is having a great grand baby shower that Saturday and I would love to get away for a Day.

I wi wait to see how much ticket prices are and make a final decision about going. Even if the band is shallow it's been a long time since I heard some live Grateful Dead songs.

"a deadCO. show would be more fun than painting shelves."

That's some endoresment there.

"I feel an obligation to see this band"

I feel an obligation to never see this band.

I like that quote in giant red letters - so . . . ME.

I miss Popi - he woulda called me a 'Tard & accused me of faking  Asperger's Syndrome, all in 1 sentence.

As long as I'm Avant-Garde-ier than Mike W . . .

Tom Yum Coconut soup w/Shrimp, Red Thai Curry w/Shrimp & saffron rice (medium spicy), & deep fried Tempura Tofu Sticks would certainly be more fun than DeadCo.

<<<I know who actually went to see John Mayer

he and oteil are the best parts of the band.

Let's not forget Chiamenti.

And yeah, Mayer is hardly the problem with this band (he can do the basic singalong song stuff just fine, but is a total Lost Puppy Dog when the going gets the least bit Psychedelic).  But going to see his own show?  It's 13-year-old-girl-just-graduating-from-boy-band music.  Or @ least any that I've ever Punished myself by attempting to listen to . . .

Judit, He means Phil fans, which I fall into.

Let's be real here, a bad Phil show is still better than Deadco.

My biggest issue is tempo.  Plotting, slow and boring.  There are others, many of the songs have been watered down so much they all sound the same for example, He's Gone  and Ramble on Rose.

Phil, for better or worse tries to make it sound different by rotating in different musicians and varying the tempo.  I must say with confidence the the last Phil I saw was excellent, Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.  Show previous to that was St Patrick's day and it was okay but still worlds better than Deadco.

Peace and Love and Long Live the Grateful Dead.

"It's 13-year-old-girl-just-graduating-from-boy-band music."

And bringing this vibe to Dead music helps how?

I’ll go again. I love the crowd that goes to these shows. Young people excited to be there. Way better than the scowling older sausage fest at the other post Jerry lineups

I have enjoyed every DeadCo show I have seen both musically and the vibe. To each their own. Now I will definately do Thanksgiving on East Coast w the family and hit Washington D.C. and Hartford .

Like Lance said this band is good, more than good IMO but I get it different strokes for different folks.

This ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;band:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::is::::::::::::::::::::::::::::good.

Sentence took too long but it's still good.

Thanks for your help, too, Barry.

>>I’ll go again. I love the crowd that goes to these shows. Young people excited to be there. Way better than the scowling older sausage fest at the other post Jerry lineups

It's complete and total redemption! Honestly, though, have you not been to a JRAD show? Really nice "up for it" young crowd there too for the most part.

To each their own indeed. They are a good band with people you purport to love Thom. Haters gonna hate.  Me? I'll drive an hour to see Bobby and drumz see friends and just to get out for a night. Go or dont.Have fun those that do,maybe I'll see ya there!

"hey are a good band with people you purport to love Thom. Haters gonna hate."

What are you , 12 years old?

....... ;)

Woulda gone to a Golden Gate Park show it is the SoL 50th

Manfred/Weird Steve, I won't be able to make it as of now. Fuggin priorities, man.

Darn it!

$150 for a decent seat for this band at MSG. Not a chance. Cash grab bullshit.

Barely worth $40 lawn tix at a shed.

gotta couple cheapos so im gonna go to one.  Wouldn't go to more, but I actually like Bobby Bill and Mickey and will support them as long as I can.

Go or dont.

((Dr. Seuss))

I'd genuinely like to see the band once, but I just can't stomach $100 with fees to sit in the nosebleeds at MSG or $180 on the floor or sides for a half-speed Shakedown. Maybe I'll take a look at Stubhub week of the shows. But those prices are just asinine. Just checked again -- $180 for behind the stage in the 200s. They're out of their goddamn minds.

the whiners who post ad nauseam as to why they will be staying home and not going to the show have some major issues.

$150!a ticket? Fuck that,

I got Hartford tickets, at the $70 price.

Well gee, Nanc I'm sorry I have a major part in caregiving to the elderly folks and will have a new baby in the house. You are right though, those are major issues.

are these prices for real?

A second night was added to bean town....Nov 19th

image_785.jpg

are these prices for real? <<<<

They're real, and they're spectacular!

Called my wife at lunch today to see if we were going to go to one of the shows in Florida.

She already bought 2 pairs for each show in Orlando and Sunrise.

Level 3 on rail and aisle (where I like) for $70 each.

I will take that as a yes.

>>>Plus, Bob Weir is in a real good place these days.

That's definitely a good thing. Problem is when you compare Weir singing Garcia/Hunter songs while high on ETOH and Benzos to Weir singing Garcia/Hunter songs clean and sober, the difference is pretty negligible.

And that's a problem.
