Hello, Noodler. How are you?

I'm not sure that I'll make tonight. I'm already beat, and I bet the show doesn't begin for a couple hours.

And IF I make it, the first song will probably lullaby me to sleep.

Dus...

But we'll see.

Doing good thanks!  It's listed as a 7pm show...  Phil's listed at 7:30,  time zones may vary...

About 7:25 PM last night,  ended 11:00 PM (EST).

NL is 6-7 hours ahead ?  So later hours.

But it's a nice sleeping tonic !

2:30ish is just under two hours from now.....

(((((Phil)))))

Goes great with lava lamps!

Great article about night one and the unleashings

Dead & Company Unleash "Scarlet"> "Fire" and "Eyes of the World" in Summer Tour Opener!

I love the story that splitting up Jack Straw wasn't planned last night...   Bobby made the changes on stage to the surprise and delight of everyone!  He whispered to John to go ahead and start Cold Rain and Snow during the jam,  and brought it back during the jam on Cassidy.

Should have gone back into Music, but nice set.  Some well played stuff in there.

All we need now is an Eternity break out.  wink

That might be the best first set I've heard from this band.

summer couch sounds great.

Was that the new Byrne? On the mixler?tom tom club! I ENJOYED

good call on back into mns, but great set anyway.

They’re on fire

"That might be the best first set I've heard from this band."

I thought the same thing.  A lot more cohesiveness than compared to what I usually hear from these guys.

Great first set!  Be curious to see if easy answers was an add on,  but great version  (never thought i'd ever say that, lol)

Weir now pronounce it 2nd Set

weirofficiates-e1476375151123_0.png

Music tempo close to original and, dare I say it,

Easy Answer has grown on me since 1995.

Something about the arrangement seems to make it less cheesy.laugh

Everybody but the drummers took a verse on the Weight

Hope everybody's okay up there.  I'm 30 miles south, we'll see what happens.

Best show I ever hear these guys play and there's a rain delay?

Just tuned in..then they stop...WHY GOD????!!!!???

Murphy's Law, Thom.

I blame Trump....

Dr. Dewpoint at your service (can't remember, but that might have been my old name on the other zone, though that got locked out 15 years ago, lol)

Good rain delay tunes at least..

Won't hear no Box of Rain tonight

maybe-  Cold Rain & Snow

Looks Like Rain

Crazy Fingers (your rain falls like...)

Row Jimmy

...

Looks like northern Delaware is going to skate, pretty amazing.

"Good rain delay tunes at least.."

It's Raining Men?

Ah, Purple Rain....

we have a theme.

I take back my 9:59 post other than Leon Russel.

Storm delay....

Don't know that we can officially call TOO yet.....

I'm cool with Purple Rain.

Rain delay? These kids today!

Merriweather 83....good times and I don't think anyone died.

I don't know that they're going to get this going again.  The weather map looks bad for the next 90 minutes.

And how are they going to get those people back on the lawn?

"Merriweather 83...."

I was there. That lightning strike just as they went into the "I'll get up and fly away" verse was one of the most intense milliseconds of my life.

I had a brief out of body experience at that lightning strike.  Saw everything from about 20 feet above our 6th row seats. And then I was back.

I'm about 40-45 minutes NE of venue.  We had light rains here pre-show,  just a sprinkle.

Then TORRENTIAL downpour during setbreak.  Good guess that Storm rolled into Camden on a SW direction.

Too bad,  it was sounding really quite nice on the stream.  Better than I expected !!

Not looking good. It's about to get worse. Tracking east to west..

Screenshot_20180602-202247_AccuWeather-432x888.jpg

Its all over now...

And we're done!!!!!!

Wow, just amazing. I really feel for the folks at the show.

"Better than I expected !!"

Much.  It only took 2.5 years for them to become a band!

' tonights show has ended early due to hazardous weather conditions '

and it was really sounding great tonight - dang

i want my $$ back from Nugs - not really - shit happens

Rain shows I remember I was at:

Edwardsville Illinois 1980

Redrocks 1982

Alpine 1989

RFK 1989

RFK 1990

Probably more I've forgotten....

Cal Expo 1991, night 3

https://youtu.be/5v-z3xeM_K8

Jerry Garcia Band - I'll Take A Melody- 12/19/75

See you at the next one.

Attended the Lightning / Mudslide / Bridge Collapse Merriweather Post also.  Those Red Rocks summer '82,  the RFK's...

Back then they had all Analog gear,  which wasn't affected by bad Weather.

Also,  the band all wore Buster Brown shoes w/ thick rubber soles.  They couldn't get electrocuted.

'Twas Mayer's Titamium golf spikes that got this one cancelled.

He owes people  a Refund.

"RFK 1990"

What a great time that was. We were about 30 feet in front of the soundboard and it was just pouring so hard we didn't care anymore.  To this day I'm convinced they gave us that 25 minute Dark Star as a gift for putting up with it all.

I was working on the Tomato Project while listening...  had the laptop and Good Audio jacked-in out back.

Worked on flats of 'Cherokee Purple'  and 'Delicious'  varieties that are overdue for Forever Homes in the ground.

CP is formerly 'Cherokee Black'  which is really more Purple.  Delicious is yet another Beefsteak Jerseyland variety,  indeterminate & open-pollinated.

'Delicious' won a Guiness World record for Weight -- 7 + pounds !!  So it is a Fat Slicer.

There's some of the Kids in their 4" pots.  Those are mainly Paste / Plum types.

BTW lotta good lookin maters........

I've been growing Black Crims.

Have hundreds of Tomatoes,  all different types,  just waiting to get in the ground.  But it's been so Darn Rainy...  There may be a Jersey Emergency farmer Grant (really) because of the Rain delays.
tomp03.jpg
Peppers are finally starting to look pretty Good.  Plants,  not Seedlings,  with decent root structure.  Maybe 12 different varieties...
tomp04.jpg

Me, I cleaned my toilets.

Saratoga downpour....

Is there a replay stream ?

Just in case you were curious;

Darn shame about the inclement Weather.  That is a nice Setlist, and they were on a Roll.

People probably went over to philly for Food & Beverage.

>>>It only took 2.5 years for them to become a band<<<

Because you've fully experienced every moment of their 2.5 years.

For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of D & C, but that statement is just silly.

Between Red Rocks 2nd & 3rd '82 shows, Merriweather '83, and RFK '90, it's Merriweather for  the shear amount of water, the torrent running down  the steps under the shed was unreal.

Hearing about the Crazy Fingers return in Ventura, then seeing my first one after about 65 shows in that mist & drizzle @ the Rox was one of my favorite moments with the boys.

As was the Star from RFK, I think that version is the best one since October '74 from Winterland.

The Birdsong>Comes a Time with the Dew at Hershey was another classic wet night on tour.

"but that statement is just silly."

Very perceptive of you Lance. It was meant to be.  Your powers of observation are obviously improving.  Keep up the good work.

But just for fun, let's look at where the Grateful Dead were at the same point in time.  That would be about 2/14/68.

"It's Merriweather for  the shear amount of water"

The had just resodded the lawn before that show. I remember walking in the next night and seeing about three blades of grass left on the hill.  We were staying at a friends apartment about a quarter mile up the road to we just walked out, but friends were stuck in the parking lot until 2:00 in the morning because of the flooding.

Harrisonburg 83 or 84 and Meadowlands 88 or 89 were both a mudslide.

I was there. That lightning strike just as they went into the "I'll get up and fly away" verse was one of the most intense milliseconds of my life.))))))))

I was also at this and it was indeed quite intense. What a set!

My first show was the 6-20-83 MPP soaker.  Turned out to be a great show.  That whole night, and maybe my whole GD experience, would have been different if they had cancelled 3 songs into the 2nd set.

Hershey Park, 1985, was a much lighter rain, more of a mist, which gave the show a cool vibe.

I think the heaviest rain at an outdoor GD show other than MPP '85 was at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.  I think it was the Summer of '94. Very steady downpour on a hot summer day, just edging out that RFK '90 show with the long Dark Star.

There was a Further show at the Cuthbert Amphitheater in Eugene that may have them all beat for biggest deluge.

Weird way to end the show.  Maybe the band will throw in some extra material in Riverbend to make it up to the tour folks.

That Autzen show was a soaker for sure...  if I recall, they broke out Attics of my live, and it was a sweet eyes of the (flooding) world

(*Attics of my life)

I agree that the Hershey Park show was just a light mist,  nothing too unpleasant.  Remember clearly that I had an Umbrella,  which was nice.

Red Rocks '82 I ran into fellow High School student who years later recounted the tale:  "There I am at RR out in Colorado,  I turn around and there's Disco Stu dressed in a Hefty Bag !! "

Good Samaritans were handing out trash bags,  which could easily be converted to chic Ponchos...

The June '94 Autzen,  I forget if we had umbrellas or raincoats,  but it was not too bothersome.  By then people needed a bath anyway.

Clean video of the show when the Music Did Stop>>>>

>>>>>Good Samaritans were handing out trash bags,  which could easily be converted to chic Ponchos...

At Hersey Park they were handing out brown trash bags with the Hersey Bar packaging graphics (for impromptu ponchos), so you had hundreds of wet deadheads dressed as candy bars...true story

Denver 1992 was damn cold with hazardous ice in the parking lot causing hippies to bust their asses again and again.

Giants Stadium, East Rutherford NJ ~ 6/15/92.  Crazy hot and humid.  Predicted rain felt like it would bring much needed relief.

Fourth song first set was Tennassee Jed.  In the middle, a major monsoon type rain kicked in big time.   The band played on.

During intermission, announcements were made about the potential for impending lightning.  Stay at your own risk.

The band played on, opening the second set with Box then Saint of Circumstance.  With the rain pouring down.

Side note:  Hershey was way fun.  As was RFK, a bunch of times.  I always thought the band played better in the rain.
